Have you checked the upper control arms as there's a thread on vibration caused by slightly loose arms. Fixed mine and it was presenting similar symptoms. Worth a shot

Hi Guys
Ive had the same issue and just wondered if there had been any progress on a fix. Mine kicks in at about 95kmh and goes through to about 110.

The local dealer has been quite helpful and has tried many different things to fix it. They have tried swapping tires, drive shafts, wheel balancing and other things but to no luck. Mine is a My15 GLX+ and they drove another which they said was even worse and the vibration kicked in at 80kmh. They have contacted Mitsubishi's engineers to see if they can shed any light on the issue. The idea of it being an issue with the ECU on the Auto Gearbox relating to the torque converter was floated but will have to see how it pans out.

Yeah that is a problem but the more you eliminate other factors the less you have left to point at. We need to get a few of the vehicles together to see if the vibration is the same in nature and start crossing off the differences.

digging up this thread after reading it all, as I have the same issue. 100,000klms new rotors and tyres and vibrates worse than the wife's pleasure toy...

GLXR with larger tyres, tyres been balanced 3 times now...

Was thinking it has to be related to tyres changing the angle of the driveline as they are taller. Similar to what a lift kit would do on a lesser scale. It may only be 20-40mm more but it may just be what is causing the issue...

Thoughts?

That doesn't work for me. How does it change angles if everything gets lifted by the same amount??

fair point - cant think what else it can be. Its stock and only thing I have done is put bigger tyres on it and now it vibrates through the body. No vibration through the steering wheel.

I have KM2s 265/75 16 and they vibrate horrible. Seemed ok for first 100 only then went bad.

i guess it is a process of elimination. it is entirely possible that the tyres balance OK but due to a manufacturing fault they could be out of round or some other defect.

can you swap wheels with someone (preferably 32's) and test to see if the vibration goes away. if you swap (and it is a defect tyre) that will probably go to the other vehicle as well.

What I have done in the past is take a wheel off and just put enough nuts back on the hub to hold the rotor or drum in its normal pozzie. Then rotate the wheel with a solid reference point near the edge.

You can then easily see if the hub/rotor/drum is actually running true.

The slightest deviation here will be greatly magnified at the tyre tread.

Its worth making sure that all surfaces are clean and rust free, between the the brakes and hub and then between the rotor and wheel, whenever refitting a wheel.

I've heard of bent axles, probably caused by a side on hit to a rear wheel. Anyone persued this possibility?

I will recap some info previously discounted for those that don't want to trawl through the whole thread

Occurs with:
Auto and Manuals
Easyselect and superselect
GLR and GLXR
Tailshaft discounted as I had a reco unit installed in mine and the problem didn't go away
1 piece and 2 piece tailshafts
Not tyre issues as to many people have it with a wide range of tyres
Had mine from near brand new so not damaged components.
Occurs in 2wd and 4wd in the GLR
Occurs in 2wd and all wheel drive in the GLXR

I am leaning towards the larger width tyres or rear diff. Not much else left.

Well this is all very interesting because I went for a drive yesterday in my glx+ which I've had two years and is a my14 build. I did increase my tyre size but only one size. So from the 29 to a 30. I don't have suspension lift yet so a 2 inch lift might bring the wobble but at current. On 16 inch sunnies and 260/65/r16 bfg ko2 no wobble to report yet

Same - don't know what else is left... What would clap out at/in the diff though.

Hey Slac. Sorry to dredge up an old post but, I need to replace my transfer case mount too. Where did you get yours from? I've tried Bursons but they're asking $60 + postage?

ok - thought I fixed this friggin vibration.

Here we go again a little bit of history..

2013/14 Manual GLXR - 115,000klm travelled
Changed transfer case mount as it was torn (not torn again, I checked).
bog stock - no suspension work. It has sagged as I do tow.
1 piece tail shaft
new slotted rotors (now 10k old)
New tyres (oversize all terrain type)

Tyres have been rebalanced 3 times by tyre mob and twice now by a mechanic. All balanced at zero...

Vibration is through the entire car at 100-120klm... Mechanic that I trust has no idea, no movement in shaft.

Open to suggestions of any type...

Do you have steel wheels?
Can you swap wheels with another vehicle to eliminate them?
