Liqui moly diesel purge

Postby curepipe on Sun Jul 29, 2012 8:12 pm

All

I ran a can of this thought the system

I did this by removing fuel pipe to injection pump and fuel return into the can

The results were amazing it was like a new engine after injector flush

Search youtube there are some vids explaining the process on a vw tdi

The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything important, it's too late to stop reading it.

Hi,

I am going to put a can through my motor this weekend. Question is how will the air which is trapped in the hose between the purge bottle and pump affect the starting of my car. I will be doing the standard method of putting extended hoses directly in clear bottle. With filter on pump inlet. Cheers..

System will self bleed

The key is don't let the can run out completely so don't let the motor stall
You will be fine

Reviving an old thread, can one of you take a photo showing us the fuel return hose on an mn? Or a clip of yourself doing this purge from start to finish?

I would like to do it to my mn triton with high k's, but am a noob, I admit it, and don't want to get the wrong hoses.

I thought it was on the firewall just near the one that leads to your filter?

From my build...

BMD wrote:Nice build Motoz. How much capacity does the new tank have?

Thanks mate. It's either 125 or 130lt. Ill find out when I go fill it up tomorrow. I took the opportunity to clean the fuel delivery system. I took the inlet and return lines off the fuel pump and ran a can of diesel purge through.

I forgot to take pics as I got caught in the moment. To sum it up you pour 500ml of purge into a clean container. You take the inlet hose off the fuel pump. A length of hose goes onto the pump and into the purge liquid with an inline plastic filter along the hose.

The return line from the fuel rail goes into the container also. Start the engine and let it run. Vary the revs. It gets warm. keep the liquid topped up so it doesnt run dry. The purge cleans deposits on the injector tips, pump and lines.

It seems to idle a lot smoother and has lost the 'knock' it had before. On tune3 I was getting a small puff of black smoke on acceleration. Post flush this has gone.

Will see how it runs tomorrow once I fill the tank and go for a cruze.

Item 2 on the pdf diagram was the only reference I could see to fuel return in the manual.

Look at the LHS of the firewall. You'll see two steel lines coming up from under the vehicle. The thicker one is the delivery line. It runs to the filter then on to the injector pump. The thinner one on the right is the return.

If you follow it back towards the motor you can find a point to take the hose off. Just follow the lines from the fuel filter along the full circuit to the return.

Can't get any photos as I'm about 4000kms away from my car at the moment.

Thanks, that's the one I thought it was. Did the purge. It came back out through the return hose really clean. It must have been in good nick from the Chemtech Diesel Power I put in or something.

Y'd hope liquid out of the return would be spotless, hasn't actually got to the dirty end of the injector.

I've had a can for a while - just got to set the time.

It would hopefully clean the injector nozzles and cylinder head.

I've never tried the diesel purge on my truck, but I once did a bourbon purge on myself. I didn't run well for couple of days after..

Liqui Moly make a number of different products.
One type you add to entire can to fuel tank.
Another 1ML per litre of diesel per tank
Another one you remove fuel lines off filter and suck contents from the can.

You should have emptied the can

I've had a can sitting on the bench for over a year and its working really well.

Whenever my engine sounds a little 'off colour' I remember it hasn't had a dose of 2stroke for a while. Give it a new dose and runs like a well oiled machine should.

I would think you should never see any contaminants coming from the return line as this is simply excess fuel being sent back.
