BP Ultimate Diesel

Postby brenze87 on Tue Nov 04, 2008 4:47 pm

hey guys
have heard all these adds on the radio over the last couple of days about bp now selling a "ultimate diesel". just wondering if anyone has been running this and whether or not you think its worth while spending the extra.
cheers

I recall that it has been on sale (as a trial run in the market) in W.A., so those over that way might be able to shed light on any noticeable performance or fuel economy benefits.

I'm a sceptic, but would love to hear actual experience with it in the Triton DiD's.

I've been looking around.
Havn't seen it yet at any servos- they don't like to advertise diesel prices at the best of times.

My local BP has diesel at 1.44 and unleaded at 1.19 tonight.

Will have to drive through and check if this is the ultimate BP

Anyone know of any BP's on the Gold Coast that have it ? Is there a list of supported stations that can be accessed somewhere ?

Yes we have, seeing as we have a BP refinary here, and not Shell, but having used it in the UK it did seem to make a difference. IE the extra economy I got was ofset by the increase in price! I've heard that they add from their slops tanks to get the cetane rating up?

Triton goes a lot better with the ultimate - cold surging non existant, more torque, heaps smoother - much nicer too drive.
I'm sold so far 8-)

well,,what does everyone think ...i think its good,,,,,but at $1.04 a litre for normal diesel at forest glen ,,i cant complain and i do think its worth the extra few cents car seems to run smooooooooth with bp ultimate, but hey whats the general view on this fuel is it worth paying more 4 it or chucking standard diesel in our trucks :)

yes these engines are diesels..................but they are designed different to 20 yr old slow reving heavy diesel engines.........the top end is all lightweight so it can rev learnt from f1, iam not doubting the benefits in a cold climate like the uk i just cant warrent that same benefit here in this day and age rick the only thing i would put in my tank is an algae inhibitor to stop the dreaded bug my neighbour is a diesel mech i have spoken to him about this and iam advised not to do it because your running the risk of a big octane hit all at start up with pre detonation and melted pistons, diesel has cetane rating not octane the two dont mix they are at oppisite ends of the scale rick this is just my opinion any ways
