Missing, white smoke, running rough, till warm then fine.

hey guys, 06 glxr td. on start up when cold, it blows white smoke, and misses, and runs rough, has no power, but then after 5 once its warm, its perfect. no smoke etc. it was only serviced a couple of thousand ago, and t the same time ran injector cleaner etc.

I was told apparently it was the injector pump and was a common issue with them, but I'm not finding a whole heap of info on the forums backing it up to be a common issue?

any ideas, or help would be great.

thanks :)

I'm having a similar issue but if i rev it to about 2200rpm it blows a heap of white smoke and sounds like its missing anything below or above that and its fine and once it had been driven for a while it is fine. fingers crossed its not a buggered injector

I really don't believe injection pumps to be an issue with the tritons

I doubt it would be the "injection pump" or more correctly the common rail fuel pump causing your troubles.
I rate the denso pumps as used on the Mitsubishi one of the most reliable in the industry.

There are many things that could cause the issue, I would start with testing the glow plugs as one or more dead glow plugs will have diesel lying in a bore until superheats and is forced to burn. (white smoke is unburnt diesel.)

I'll second Snooozy's bet, sounds like a fault in the glow plug circuit, ie the whole glow plug system not operating rather than just a single dodgy plug.

Hi all, my first post, so don't crucify me, yet :D

Had problem with the white smoke issue until I read the manual (ML) says first thing in the morning turn on the ignition until the lights go out on the dash relative to engine management, then without touching the accelerator pedal (don't pump the fuel lines) turn on the ignition fully the e3ngine kicks over beautifully without any smoke at all, problem solved ever since.

no other symptoms present
