According to Long Ranger, the single cab and dual cab tanks are the same. It is the extra cab that has a different tank.

Tacking onto an existing thread then, I know when I put the long range tank in my pathfinder the fuel gauge was of no use anymore so assume it would be the same in the Triton. Having spent the last week tripping around southern WA the range has been an issue so looking to upgrade. If I installed a scangauge would this actual read of the larger tank size?

cheers

If calibrated correctly they guess accurately how much is in your tank. But not able to give a meassured value from any signals given to it

From memory though the stock fuel gauge will stay full for a long time but kick into action once the fuel level is back where the sender expects it to be, so you'll still have a needle that slowly marches towards empty. If you drive it til the empty light goes on, then refill, you should have a good idea of how much is left in the new tank when the light comes on in future.

^^^^^ what he said.
Also the " distance to empty" will stay the same until the needle starts to move. Then it will start to drop too. Not that it's that accurate anyway.
Or you could set up a scangauge

I haven't found the gauge to be an issue with mine. Setting up the scangauge look harder.

So the single cab long range tank fits the duel cab? That's handy info to have confirmed.

yep works fine, funny thing is you can remove the long range tank without having to take off the tailshaft on the single cab model, but you have to remove it to put it into the dual cabs!!! wasted about 40 mins before finally submitting and removing tailshaft
