Chip-It Help

Postby SLIMaxPower on Mon Feb 16, 2015 12:04 pm

I bought a second hand chip from here.

I have a 2014 MN. The instructions say one plug goes into the fuel rail ? That's the pump on the passenger firewall near the battery ? The plug there doesn't fit the chip harness.

The MAP sensor Is a blue plug that is at the back of the engine - with a tube that I put a T-Section in for turbo boost guage ?

The piggyback cable plugs into the socket but the little blue plug doesn't plug into the other end of the cable.

So Lost

Sounds to me like your trying to pug it in to the wrong spot,
End of the fuel rail you will find the plug,
As Tex has advised above search chip it install and you'll find plenty of info and pics to steer you in the right direction

This image is not of the Triton engine or the Chipit chip however it shows the location of the common rail pressure sensor that you are looking to connect to

All I can find in a hurry as most of old chipit stuff is on my dead laptop.

There would be at least two other threads here (somewhere) with images from the original instructions.

The images above are of a 4D56HP MN Triton engine.

That's all good as shows 4M41. 8-)

The circle is around the old MAP sensor port on lower manifold is just above the rail sensor.

Thanks Gents,
The chip was the one out of my triton, but I didn't have the instructions nor the vehicle to take a photo

Hopefully this will get him on his way

Just as a possibility, there is no change to the fuel rail plug on the MY14 models is there? I can't recall anyone having issues before, and I can't see Denso changing it...?

Okay thanks guys.

The Chip It loom with the piggy back plug male and female (3 pin) goes in the fuel rail socket and then the OEM plug into that.

The MAP sensor plug is also 3 pin but the chip it loom only has a 2 pin plug.

There are 2 short looms from the Chip It.

A 3 pin which is for the USB connection. ?

A 2 pin ?

Maybe you're better off posting photos of the bits and then people can tell you which is which?

You don't need it, you can do the splice as I explained. The plug and play harness was a later edition upgrade.

Tony may or may not be able to supply.

you must get it right way around as one reads sensor, other reports new value to ECU, is the second wire.

Cut second wire (Middle) on Map sensor loom (The green one) splice blue to MAP sensor plug side and Green to ECU side.

Or remember it as blue wire to blue plug.

I do have the plug and play loom if you'd prefer it. ;)

OK cut and plugged in all good.

Now for updating the module.

Using a win 7 laptop. The drivers for the usb/serial installed fine.

Ran the micro app - getting a RX failed error when trying to connect/read.

Check in the device manager for which COM port the device installed to and make sure it matches the port selected in the app.
