Fuel injection problem - broken down

Postby scumbag on Mon Nov 09, 2015 1:51 pm

So the latest run of luck with my car has been some sort of fuel system failure.
car became very hard to start and basically it died in traffic shortely after, then towed to my mechanic.
theres no fuel system pressure, but its not leaking loads of fuel out the exhaust eg stuck open injector.

so it appears that the fuel injection pump and or common rail has died, and perhaps injectors too.
just wondering what im up for price wise for parts and or a supplier for these parts or even part numbers for the mentioned parts.
the car has no warrenty being an 09 and this is the last of a long line of rubbish problems iv had.
129 000km, last thing was the suction control valve failure, thing before that was clutch and before that was a cam cap failure resulting in the entire cylinder head being replaced... and thats since feb this year...hasnt been a good time.
any help, suggestions or ideas where to source parts would be appreciated thanks. Tom

Best to wait for your mechanic to tell you what is wrong.

If you need parts then genuine Mitsubishi is about the only source for fuel system parts. However, once you know what you need then check out pricing on the Amayama web site. They are often significantly cheaper than your local dealer.

If work is so terrific, why do they have to pay us to do it?

well its down too either the injections pump or common rail?
common rail is around $850 and injection pump and $1000 apprtly its anyones guess
mechanic said he can keep it running just buy pumping fuel filter just.. he said not developing any fuel pressure.

what about a loose or bad fuel rail connector on the back of the rail??
it tells the ecu the rail pressure
what about the fuel pump it self
do these have a scavage pump in tank to push fuel up to the filter?? if so maybe it has died and not getting the fuel up the front

if you can pump the filter tells me that there isnt enough fuel getting to the pump and rail so bye pumping it you are giving it the fuel from the tank

when was the fuel filter last replaced???
checked to see if any blockages in fuel lines??
breather in tank clear??
if the mechanic is worth his salt he should be able to plug in a scan tool that they use and be able to check al of these things and test the pressures on the pump

where are you located????
