ML petrol fuel economy gone

Postby diver albie on Mon Nov 16, 2015 8:53 pm

Ok sorry but I did look and couldn't find my answer. Economy appears to have gone to the poo. Have checked the trip computer against scangauge and both show 20 ish litres per 100. Because I have a long range tank kinda rely on the scangauge to time when i need fuel. No way this can be right?? Any suggestions.

Cheers
Dave

Seriously, get some accurate fuel consumption figures by recording litres filled against kilometres travelled.

Auto or manual? Towing? A lot of off-road work? Carrying heavy load?

Change air filter, clean MAF sensor and change spark plugs as starting points.

If work is so terrific, why do they have to pay us to do it?

Disconnect the handbrake!

You might also consider the O2 sensors - these buggers can really mess with fuel economy when they've run to the end of service life.

can't afford all thesound deadner so will scratch that but thanks for the suggestion :D

just had the 90k service so plugs and filter are new so there's 2 more out of the way. Waitong for tight ass Friday for fuel discount so will top off then and check real consumption against scangauge / trip computer.

Nothing has changed that I can think of, still a manual petrol, still drive it the same and haven't added any weight other than the 4-5 kgs I've put on due to lack of exercise waiting for knee reconstruction.

Got me fecked.
