Advice on Diesel

Postby Racer on Mon Jan 26, 2009 7:42 am

G'day guys, I am about to enter the world of my first diesel engine....

The question I am asking is, What stations do I need to steer clear of in relation to the quality of diesel? Is there any suggestions on where to fill and is its cheap cycle the same as unleaded?

I always ran Premium (Vortex/Optimax) in my VZ Ute and I obtained more mileage and a smoother engine....is this same for diesel?

Diesel doesn't fluctuate as much as petrol.

I stick to the major suppliers.

I believe that there are some minor differences between fuels, however they all fill up from each others tankers from time to time so you can't guarantee that Shell is Shell, or BP is BP especially in country areas.

yes thats right ...stick to the bigger servos that the truckies use and you cant go wrong...personally i believe bp diesel is the best for my triton glx-r with a splash of chemtech diesel power just to spice it up ...dunno maybe i should use ultimate diesel ???????????????

Avoid Volume Plus whenever possible......I have used all the major servo brands with no noticable difference.

East Coast is Shell, West Coast is BP. There is some smaller independent suppliers... I've stuck mostly to Gull BioDiesel blend, and have had no problems. It meets diesel specs.
