Inlet manifold cleaning.

Postby Dollar on Tue Sep 26, 2017 6:01 am

I know there is a brilliant write up on this forum on removing the inlet manifold on a ml triton. I just seem to be a little stuck on getting the manifold off.

I have removed the fuel header rail and the branching lines
going into the injectors and the 10 spring loaded nuts holding the manifold on (what a pain accessing some of those). Are there any more nuts or bolts I'm missing as the thing still won't come off?

Any tips on keeping the fuel line dirt free as I don't want to get let any dirt in there. I was thinking of letting some fuel through prior to connecting back onto the injectors to flush out any grit.

For anyone thinking of doing it my car has 100k and is fairly clogged.

Appreciate any help.

Thanks Adrian

ML, MN or MQ?

Have you looked in the online manuals? The steps are detailed there.

If work is so terrific, why do they have to pay us to do it?

Yeah, coughy, but he'd posted this thread in the MQ section, so who knows.

Oops I didn't realise I'd posted in the mq section. It's an ml. Thanks for that link coughy his write up is golden.

So I got it off yesterday and am glad I did. I would have scraped out half a cup of sludge. Now for the final clean and multi it back together.

Done and done. Took a little longer longer than expected but I'm glad I did it and would def recomend it. I will be I stalling a catch can but not sure if I'm keen on blanking the egr. I think I may still run some intake cleaner as the inlets in the head were still quite clogged. Has anyone had any experience with these?

Install one of Tony's EGR electronic mods, takes seconds to fit and no blanking plate..no error codes.
