DTC codes help

Postby sed8td on Wed Jun 26, 2019 3:46 am

I was driving my triton mn 2.5 4 speed auto and felt the auto slip between 1st and 2nd.
I got home and hooked up one scanner and I had u1120 and u1190.
No idea what they are as no discription with it.
I cleared codes, drove to work and rechecked codes and now I have those 2 returned plus P3538.
Any help would be appreciated as to what the codes mean and any remedies!

From the workshop manual, which can be downloaded at the link contained in the forum "directory"at the top of the page by the way.

U1120:

Failure information of Engine-ECU
DIAGNOSIS CODE SET CONDITIONS
A/T-ECU receives the signal from the engine-ECU via the CAN bus line. When the received signal contains failure information, the diagnosis code No. U1120 is stored.
PROBABLE CAUSES
•Damaged wiring harness or connector
•Malfunction of the engine-ECU
•Malfunction of the A/T-ECU

U1190:

Can’t receive fault detection control signal
DIAGNOSIS CODE SET CONDITIONS
To each ECU connected to the CAN bus line, ETACS-ECU sends the diagnosis code (U code) detection permission or prohibition signal. When A/T-ECU cannot receive the diagnosis code (U code) detection permission or prohibition signal for 5 seconds, diagnosis code No. U1190 is stored.
PROBABLE CAUSES
•Malfunction of the ETACS-ECU
•Malfunction of the CAN bus

P3538:

This code is not referenced at all in the workshop manual so can't help with that one.

Everything in the manual points to diagnosis by a dealer using a MUTT-3 tool.

Good luck.
Yes... I'll have another beer.
