if your seeing huge temps like some mentioned here, I would think there would be plumes of smoke involved.
Once air fuel drops below around 14.5 to 1, its going to heat up quickly. Ok under 14 to 1 for a short burst, but I like to see them settle at over 14 to 1 there on.

I think 700c is a bad temperature for your engine, it's not the water coolant temp which we would expect to be bellow 100c
