I've carried out this mod on a 130000km SCV valve and it's now as good as new and been running for the last 20000km in my ML.
If anyone is interested I may post a thread for the repair of a stuffed SCV valve so you don't have to waste your money on constantly getting new ones.
I got the craps with the SCV valves and now have the solution for $0
I'm interested.
I just replaced my SCV after 96,000km. I do a serious amount of idling and light throttle cruising. Apparently this can shorten the operating life of these SCV's due to the nature of how they work.
A few of us suspect that it most likely the coil breaking down and getting weaker. Have you ever felt how hot they get while idling?
Anyway I'd be interested to see what you do to repair them.
Interestingly I was able to keep mine going longer by removing it and rotating it every few thousand km's.
Note: for anyone wanting to replace SCV on their MN's... Make sure you get the correct one. MN's seem to have a few different fuel pumps for exactly the same motor that require different SCVs. Trust me some won't even go close to fitting.
