Fuel Pump Issues

Postby Eelesy on Fri Jun 06, 2008 4:31 am

My Triton is currently on the back of a tow truck on its way to the dealership.

I left my house and made it 200m around the corner and she just died, RAC says all signs point to the fuel pump has shit itself.

Has anyone else experienced this? i have had the hotline fix for the Suction control valve sticking already and now this???

edit* should point out its a diesel.

on another note, i rang mitsi in advance and told them my ute is on the way and i need a vehicle as i have to go the the airport tonite to pick somone up, and they pretty much said stiff shit as they dont have any loan cars available.

Is it worth jumping up and down? do they have any obligations to lend me a demo model of anything???

I had the same issue yesterday when I booked my car in for the power steering fix. "you can hire one if you need otherwise you're on your own". Didn't budge when I told him that I shouldn't be out of pocket for a warranty issue
I'd rather have a full bottle in front of me than a full frontal labotomy!

Don't suppose you've had surging issues as well?? I could write a book on it.........
Tip # 1 - Avoid stress & grief & low resale values with vehicles - do it once - do it right, buy a HILUX!!

Fuel Pump Issues

Postby Eelesy on Fri Jun 06, 2008 10:02 am

surging issues when i first got it, but nope, this one just cut out, like it ran outta fuel, mobile mechanic says it is most likely fuel pump, mitsi rang me this arvo and said that it is a miss communication in the electrical systam somewhere, and they are having an auto sparky out tomorrow to look at it.

they also said there was a lot of 'aftermarket' wiring in the vehicle so if that has caused the short that it would not be covered by warranty.

i have done all the wiring of lights and such myself, and them circuits have not touched the original wiring, there are only 2 things that i can think of that have cut into factory wiring and that is the Miccron turco timer and the CR plus chip.

but there are a hell of a lot of ppl running them, so for mine to be the only one to stuff up would be odd. i just hope they dont try and slap me with a massive bill and tell me it was my fault.

5 days later and still no progress on my ute, Apparently they have had an Auto Sparky out a few times and still cant find the problem as to why the fuel pump isnt working.

At least i actually got a triton to drive around in for now. a white 4x2 auto petrol. tell you what, even with the price of deisel im still happy i got one. The one im currently driving goes thru a huge amount of petrol.

Fuel Pump Issues

A funny thing happened on the way to...

I went to the local shops earlier today to get my healthy lunch of chips and bacon & egg roll, and when I got back in the car (auto diesel) it gave quite a long bang - like in the old movies when a car backfires. I turned it off and restarted with no problems.

This has never happened before - only 12,000 k's on the clock.

Anyone else had a similar experience? Not being mechanically minded, any ideas of what might have happened?

saurus is your tdc box still in the ute? if they can't find anything wrong with it check the boost light on your tdc as this sounds very similar to what happened to me last week and I'm pretty sure we both got our chips at the same time

Fuel Pump Issues

mine stalled in maccas drive thru, got out and turned the chip to 0 and it started then got it home and had a play on a few different settings and it kept either not starting or stalling after a few seconds on 0 which is supposed to be off right through to F, while playing with the settings I had the box sitting on the fuse box under the dash and I could see from the drivers seat that the boost light was on constantly even at idle (I remember a few weeks ago showing a mate the box that the boost light only came on when I reved the motor) so I had to unplug the unit and it hasn't stopped since (it went on tuesday last week & I've done 1000ks since then with the long weekend). It's sitting in the glovebox now awaiting a response from tdc, hopefully they come to the party cause I'm hating the stock power now. Also no lights on the dashboard came on to indicate errors

Oh dear, I reckon if they trace the prob to the chip mate you will have a rather large bill from Mits.
First thing you should have done was take it out :o ;)

hmmmm, thats what im thinking now, but how to let the dealership know this without them hitting me with a huge bill.

So ive been told the auto sparky hasnt had a chance to look at it yet, its been sitting there 3 days waiting for them.

The other option is that if if is a problem in the chip itself would TDC Technologies be willing to sort something out?

im gonna go to the dealership first thing in the morning and unplug the unit and see if that makes a difference.

part of me wants that to be the problem cos then that would be simple, but a part of me wants it to be something else as i raeally dont want a rather large bill. :(

Well if they haven't had a chance to look at it that could be a blessing mate as then there shouldn't be any cost involved as yet 8-)

If they find it to be the TDC boxs fault I'd hate to think of what hourly rate they would make up for fault finding that one....the skies the limit I think.
