Hi all, I also having air bag light troubles,I have a ML-VR model that has been in to the dealers 10-12 times and still not fixed!! I contacted complaints and have been assured they will fix this time. If not i will be taking legal action as i feel this should be a re-call due to safety. Will keep you posted.

Bugger. Wish I found this thread last week.

I pick up my new (2nd hand) MN GLX-R during the week. After taking the the car for a test drive a fortnight ago I mentioned the SRS light being on and the used car salesman said it would be looked at. They sent the car to the mitsubishi dealer within their group (Alto Group) to get the SRS light looked into. Picked up the car last Wednesday and the light did not come on.......until about 1hr down the road, and it's now on all the time.

Looks like I'm in for the same problems.
Oh and by the way, dont ever buy a car from Alto Artarmon. SRS light was just one small issue not solved from a team of incompetent people.

Was in at the Mitsubishi Dealers again today so they could look at the
SRS Airbag light. I was told they have ordered in a part to fix it which
should be in in 2 weeks.

So the light is still on.

Hi Guys
My new MN 2011 Triton had the srs light come on after 6 months contacted dealer & fixed with comp reset
it has been back in 4 times now, 2nd time they said it was corroded roof harness connecters , 3rd time they replaced roof harness (or they said they did), 4th time now they say it needs a floor harness replaced.
Colin Watson Traralgon rep told me they have at least 6 customers in rental vehicles as airbags will not deploy in an accident. This is a serious safety issue and surely Mitsubishi should recall all vehicles affected.

Hi Joslo

Yeah I was wondering if the airbags would deploy with this light on, has anybody else
been told this? If this is the case I will push the issue!

Hi Spoilt

I was told 3 weeks ago the parts are on order and they would call me. So far
no call, I'm not sure what parts it was, if it was a wiring harness or not.

The light on the dash is bugging me now!!

Just an update guys yesterday I was told, Cardiff Mursubishi are still waiting
on the wiring harnesses and they have only been able to
get 2 of them & have no idea when it will come in.

I was you that Mitsubishi has now told the the dealers that they are to
replace the wiring harnesses & no longer just to "clean the terminals"!!!
They informed me that Yes it was a safety issue as the airbags will not deploy
while the SRS light is on!

Today I was called & told my wiring harness had turned up & will be done
on Thursday.

Seems to be a very common issue

I have had a few calls at work regarding this in the past few weeks with customers changing multiple seat belt assemblies and complete harnesses. Generally the code refers to the squib (explosive charge fitted airbags and seatbelts)

I even had a tradie look at my roof at home who had a 2011 triton when I asked how he liked it he said he had been back to the dealer 9 times about the SRS light and had everything replaced but still had the issue. He was given a loan car by the dealership while they had his and the loan car did the same thing! they grounded the car and made him return it. He was not happy that they would take their car off the road but didn't have a problem with him driving his around with the light on and couldn't guarantee him his airbags would function in a crash..

Yeah it's very common, mines going in today for
the fifth time.

I was told (after waiting for 4weeks) there were no wiring harnesses in Aust.

The following day they called to say mine had arrived.....
From none at all in Aust & all of a sudden......

I'm sure it helped when I asked them,
" Do you guys believe it's a safety issue"?
"Will my kids be saved by the airbags in an accident"?

False alarm.......

My cares at the dealers today to have SRS harness
replaced but I've been told they couldn't do it as only
half the harness arrived..

So I need to wait till mid Oct till it arrives.........

Update on my SRS Airbag light.

I was too mud October they'd be in. Now I'm told
they're still waiting from the parts from Japan.

I've been waiting for about 4mths now for the wiring harness
to fix the airbags. It's been in 3 times before that and they cleaned te
terminals.

Anybody having any luck with having theirs fixed?

Dan, I've had mine in quite a bit over the last 12 months for the airbag light. The dealer has replaced wiring harnesses a few times. Last time they replaced the harness because the harness they were sent my Mitsi the time before was the wrong one. I got the impression that they were doing a number of harness replacements and that the latest version was a good fix. I would think that your dealer should be able to get hold of one now. Good Luck.

Hi Cleantones

Where did you get yours done at?

I've just been told that Mitsubishi Japan has no stock and
therefore do not have an eta......

She is going to email Mitsubishi for me but doesn't think she will get a reply
from them. I totally understand it's not her fault, but it's now been over 6mths
trying to get it sorted.

I'm in the same boat, the dealer looking after this advised the issue is materials used in the harness being different suppliers for different parts in the loom causing a voltage drop which trips the fault and airbag light comes on.

Any truth in this?

What disturbs me is they obviously won't say if this affects airbag operation or not, but what the hell do I do for a car if by rights I shouldn't be driving it, I would hate to be in an accident with the kids in the car and no airbags work.

Yes I know that's a full on situation but hey that's what the things are in the car for

Here's your answer....

It is possible that the loom could cause the problem, although seems unlikely.

it out!

I just looked at the MMA website & could only find a
"Contact Us" link for general enquiries.

Should I send an email to this link or does somebody have a
better contact email/phone No I should use......?
