Hi All
Have searched the forum for an answer and cannot find one.
Please Note that this problem has been there since new, and not related
to my fitting of Gas over Diesel.
I have alsways been a petrol engine driver for the last 45 years, and
so when I got my new Triton, the noises were unfamiliar.
However, after a while I decided that there was a rattle that did not
belong to normal Diesel sounds.
The best desription is "Tappet rattle". But because it doesn't happen all the time
I doubt it would be that.
Firstly it happens worse in the morning when cold.
Then once the engine has warmed up it disappears untill you drive
the vehicle in "Float" mode, ie: not accelerating nor descellerating.
It's where you give it just enough pedal to take up the slack.
I have pointed this out to the service dept in Wagga a number of times now
and they have done things like "Re-Flash" but it didn't fix it.
Initially I left the vehicle there overnight, so at startup they could hear
the problem. Even taking a tech for a drive and "Floating" to highlight the noise,
they refused to acknowledge that there is even a noise.
After 50+ years in factories , my hearing is shot when it comes to having a conversation in a crowded room,
but with no other noise, I can hear a mouse fart.
They then started up another Triton that was cold, and to my ears, it was like chalk
and cheese. It sounded all low frequency noise, no higher frequency rattles.
When I declared on the Feedback call from Mitsubishi that I was not satisfied
with the respose to my problem, I got the cold shoulder from them locally.
Almost like "How dare you complain".
I am about to become a permanent Grey Nomad, and don't want to find out at the wrong time
that there is a failure that could have been prevented.
Has this happened before, and is there a fix ?
Regards
