10 year powertrain warranty void as second owner

Postby Knuckle on Tue Feb 26, 2013 1:05 pm

Afternoon people
Went down to the local dealer today to check a few things as I was pretty sure the warranty (5 year) was just about up.
Found out that the warranty runs out in October this year.
I am the second owner of vehicle and the dealer informed me that the 10 year powetrain warranty is void for me as it cant be transfered between owners.
What a bummer!
Anyone ran into this problem before or tried to take it on?
Interested in your replies.
Cheers

Clearly stated in the owners manual if my memory serves ;-)

Unfortunate, but nothing you can do...
I'm not so good with the advice  ... Can I interest you in a sarcastic comment???

Is the whole powertrain warranty void for second owner? or is it just the extra 5yrs/30,000kms on-top of the normal warranty?

Just the extra 5yrs/30,000

Bumper to bumper warranty is 5yrs, 130,000 and transferrable to new owners

The extra 5yrs or up to 160,000 is referred to as powertrain as it only covers drive components, not electrical or fuel system etc. think major drive components eg, motor, turbo, gear box etc and only applies to original owner

Yeah but it's the manufacturer not the dealers who are making decisions like that.

I'm pretty sure no other manufacturers give such a long warranty. I think Mitsubishi is quite generous with their warranties actually
