Been experiencing this issue for 6-9 months on my 2010 PB Challenger (187000km).
Finally had it diagnosed properly by the dealer, and they're going to speak to Mitsubishi about coming to the party though it's well outside of warranty.

I've had it from new, and had it serviced exclusively by the same dealer - they've been fairly good to me in the past.

Good luck with that.. we had the issue start 4000 km out of warranty and Mitsubishi said nope out of warranty bad luck (or words to that effect) Ended up having it repaired at North East Mitsubishi (Adelaide) along with new clutch and 180k service. Bye bye $4500. Then had to return it twice for bad workmanship by their mechanics- first time forgot to reinstall detent clip and kept dropping out of 5th and 1st and 2nd were very sticky. And second time wouldn't go into low range because they had broken a plastic clip when reinstalling the gearbox after the previous repair. We live 2 1/2 hours away so it was a huge inconvenience as it is also our work vehicle.

I don't understand when Mitsubishi don't come to the party, WHY put it in and pay them to carry out the necessary repairs ????
and then need to return because of dodgey work needing rectification :o

Their test drive would involve driving around the block, trying to talk to the techo who performed the work would be like asking a jeweller can you just duck out to the car to show your grandmother the new watch you intend to buy her, no way in hell is it going to happen,

I,m pretty sure there would be gearbox specialist who are fully aware of the gearbox issue by now and can offer the same service if not more thorough, at a discounted dollar figure, and stand by their work unconditionally and will fully explain whats causing the issue, and how the repairs will rectify the problem from reoccurring.
