Recall Notice for Tritons and Challengers - Electric Seats

Postby gaspode on Wed Sep 25, 2013 8:13 am

Hi all,

Not sure on the exact details, Mitsubishi are recalling all Tritons and Challangers fitted with electric seats. Apparently the adjustment leaver sticks, supplying current to the motor which trips the TOL (thermal overload). However, before this occurs, the seat may catch on fire.

I found this out via my lil bro who was reading the Sydney Daily Telegraph.

I got the letter last night. It's specific years. Can't recall. I think it's the 2006 to 2008 GLS / GLX-R tritons and the 2009-2011 Challengers. I have the letter at home which I can retype tonight.

Only those with electric seats obviously...

Interesting. I have no letter but have 2009 GLXR with power seat.

I couldn't find it on the DOTARS website this morning, which is where all these things are supposed to be published. If they are full recalls anyway.

Yeah mine is part of it. Special thanks to a special dealer service man for the personal email - guess he has my VIN on file. :D Apparently there will be a new lever to be fitted. Shame, I would have liked a new seat

Got home and my letter was sitting here waiting. All pretty well timed if you think about it, although ideally you'd want to get your letter before the advertisements. Same day is pretty tight timing.

This one seems a bit more serious than my last recall which was that they fitted the wrong sun visors and urgently needed to supply me with a pair that had a mirror on the passenger side

And yet they didn't bother with a recall, or even admit there was a problem, for the power steering failure in the ML. :x
