Looks like I'll be expecting a letter for this as mines in this batch of vehicles. Will wait and see what comes of it.

Yeah, mine too. Funny though, Mitsubishi recalled Trtion's/Challanger's in Malaysia back in August for the same fault,

Weird... Oh well I'm glad It didn't brake on me in the outback.. :-?
If it was a serious fault I'm fairly sure it would have already let go on me.

I rang the local dealer to book mine in after reading the recall notice in the paper. They told me that even though my vehicle's VIN was in the range it was not subject to the recall. I then called Mitsubishi Motors Australia who said the same thing. Apparently it is not all vehicles in the range of numbers.

My guess is they now which vehicle got certain welds done by a slack robot and which were lucky enough to get the good robot doing these particular welds.

I also just called my stealer to ask... All he could tell me was that my vehicle was required for 1.6hrs to do the inspection.:-? This is to see if new parts are required? He couldn't tell me the details.:???:

Can our friendly 'good' stealer Lee-thai tell us what's going on? :-|

Leeeeee.

SRB with the last recall (the electric seat one) Lee was able to identify by the VIN whether I was in or out. He might be able to do that for you too but if your dealer wants a look it sounds like you're in by the VIN but maybe they're not replacing all of them, just inspecting for signs that yours is defective. Would be very interesting to know how they are detecting it one way or the other.

That sounds like a lot of inspection? If you were quick that's enough time to remove and refit both of the LCAs isn't it?

I'm very interested to know how they intend on inspecting the LCA welds. Mine was up on the hoist yesterday for a service and my mechanic and I were discussing the recall. I had a close look at the welds and from my engineering experience I'm interested in how they are going to test the welds if that is the issue.

Are they going to perform non destructive testing, eg mag particle, dye, etc. Or will it be just a visual inspection only, where 1.6 hours seems a long time for visual only. If NDT is conducted, are they qualified.

Again welding related.

Stealer should have been able to tell me this but we all know they are...
The welding on mine looks ok to me... Like already said...I wonder how they'll determine what is faulty? :-? Guess we wait and see, mine goes in late next week. Just when I thought I'd never have to go to the stealers ever again.

Bring it up here and we'll go mad with the mig. I think yours would have parted company a long time ago if faulty.

I asked the Mudgee dealer as my steering rattle is being fixed, they said something along the line not many appear to be effected so must be a random thing. (Obviously mine is too old so not effected here.)

From the article:

"The recall applies to 17,540 Triton utes (2011/2012-plated) and 2865 Challenger SUVs (2011/2012-plated) built prior to Friday May 11, 2012. Both 2WD and 4WD variants fitted with front suspension lower control arms are affected."

Friday may 11 2012 must have been the day the bad welder got the sack
