Strange they didnt mention it at my service two weeks ago?!?!?

Anyway we rang the dealer (as it suggests on the letter) only for the girl to say they don't deal with that we needed to contact the service centre. Why didn't it say that on the letter ?

Anyway hope to book it in before the Christmas travels

Must be bad luck this last week... Went to Local dealer on the Wednesday, since out of the blue i got a SRS airbag light come on in the dash, Apparently there is a fault with some of the vehicles wiring loom for my Triton range that they are aware of. Warranty states to clear the code the first time and then if it happens again, they have to pull pretty much all the interior out of the ute and replace the loom... happy to say the light hasn't come back on again yet...

Then Thursday when i get back from the city from having my ultimate suspension lift installed... yays... i have the recall letter waiting for me about the lower control arms...

So Friday its back to the dealer... and now booked in for the check on Tuesday... followed by tire upgrades on the Wednesday... my Triton seems to be getting a lot of attention lately... haha

What the local dealer told me about the recall...
- It only affects about 1 in every 80 model triton/challenger in the list.
- check only takes half an hour to do.
- Mitsubishi have sent a "special" tool to do the task/check to each dealer, this tool simply measures the thickness of the weld and the distance of it. If it passes... yay.... if it doesn't... new control arms are sent and installed.
- The fault itself, although important, not as drastic as being made out to be, and the car is safe to use for normal driving conditions... they just have to make it out as "worst case scenario" for legal reasons bla bla bla.
- The stupid news... Mistubishi only sent 1 set of control arms to the dealer...i'm out in a country town... can bet your rear that there are lots of utes/4wd's sold out this way, big chance a lot are recent mitsubishi's too... having the letter only for one day out my way... 3 Tritons had been booked in within the day from when i popped in... I'm hoping i aint affected and one of the lucky 1 in 80...

Yes guys,It is an inspection only, and yes it should take approx 1.5 hours to complete the inspection correctly,

There are many variations of the inspection depending on the control arms fitted, until we look at them we dont know, then we carry out the steps as provided to us to determine if they require replacement,

and replacing the LCAs is over 4 hours,

I wouldn't think it will matter mate. It sounds like the welds are either the correct thickness etc or they're not. If they were going to be at risk of giving way on a stock vehicle they'd have to replace them regardless.

My triton (delivered april 2012) is booked in for a service on Friday.
When I rang up I mentioned the LSA recall letter I had received and my vehicle was already in their data base.
See if they find anything.
Letter notes to drive conservatively.
This is just after all the corrugations and creek crossings of the Plenty, Tanami road and Gibb River road!
Let you know how it goes.

Dropped mine off for the inspection then came back an hour later and she was still on the hoist and they had it in bits on the Lhs spoke to the mech and he said that that the left lca had failed the test by a whisker and they had lca's in stock due to the recall so they jst did it strait away..ended up waiting a extra couple hours but all sorted and they also done a wheel alignment ofcoarse and she was good to go......he didn't Evan query the ultimate sussy at all so no dramas there....great service from these guys ...best dealer I've dealt with by far...leongatha mitsubishi ....
