Squeak in Suspension

Postby YogiOz on Fri Nov 30, 2007 2:53 am

After four unsuccessful visits to a local dealer to have the squeak in suspension fixed I have now been told that Mitsubishi is working on a hot fix which involves adding spacer bars. They have apparently been working on it for 12 months and it only affects some trucks. I have 5.6K kms up and the squeak started around 4K kms.

Squeak in Suspension

Postby subi_man on Fri Nov 30, 2007 3:18 am

Welcome yogi - hope you enjoy our home

Ahhh the old squeaky rear springs - been discussed here and on other forums before. After "diagnosing" a problem, my dealer will take the springs out and have them reset by a third-party at the next service - not sure that will really accomplish anything however

Cheers
:)

Thanks for the welcome.....look fwd to sharing trip data (only done one recently to Bendethera in NSW).

They tried greasing em, resetting the bracket and greasing each leaf. When on the blower to order a new leaf suspension the service guy was told that a fix should be out by the end of ther month. Tell ya - pisses me off and it doesn't even affect every truck.:x

I've got'm. Been 'attended to' by my local Mitsi service agent and the noise goes away for about a week or less if I go off road again.

A more permanent fix would be nice. :-)

Got a permanent fix here in NZ guys, as mine got fixed earlier this week. Involves replacing the original 'slippers' that seperate the springs within the pack. They have a new harder compound in the replacement parts - works well.;)
Tip # 1 - Avoid stress & grief & low resale values with vehicles - do it once - do it right, buy a HILUX!!

Sounds like what has been proposed. Rang Customer Centre and they said that the fix was on hold and with Mitsubshi Australia Ltd - and there was nothing they or I could do until the fiz is released.:x

ok so ive heard a lot about this dreaded "squeak"
ive even thought id heard at a few times...
but ive just ticked over 11k and now i really know what u guys mean when you say it has a squeak!

so what do you suggest is the best course of action?? no doubt the dealership are aware of the problem, so should i bring it to their attention and leave it up to them to fix? or give it a whack with a rubber mallet and try and sort it myself?

Mine didn't make a sound until about 20K and now it's darn loud at times and drives me nuts:roll:
Sprayed a little inox on the front spring retainer thingy and that stopped it for a fair while but it's back again same as
before:(

Got a phone call from MMAL today (logged a question with 'Ask our CEO' or some such on the Mitsy web) - there is a fix pending but no date is available and it will hopefully be released soon.

Guys - hammer the www.mitsubishi-motors.com.au 'Ask CEO a question' and maybe it will be out earlier....
