Squeak in Suspension

What were your warranty claims and recall information

What a crock, It is a known Problem and MMAL have no problem covering the repair under warranty.

Talk to the Manager there about it,

I had a constant mice-like chirping for a while. From memory it started after driving through torrential rain.
One day out of sheer frustration, I rocked my triton quite vigorously and discovered the hardlid hinges were the culprit.
just letting y'all know what sounds like constant suspension squeak could turn out to be something completely unrelated.

Well i had mine checked today and the reception chick told me the tech test drove it and there was no squeak. I Told them to go rock it and you can hear it, she said she will relay it on to the tech and ring me back. After a few hours i couldnt wait any longer so i rung them back at lunchtime and she said there was no noise but i could take it for a test drive with the tech  . Well after waiting for a while for the tech we go over to the truck and i shake it and it squeaks  . Oh it wasnt doing that this morning was the reply, i know eaxctly what that is ill order the new shackle kit(i think he said). Anyway all good and its booked in next week to get fixed fingers crossed

Well happy I found this thread. Mine just started squeaking!! Only after 3900KM!!!!! 2011 MN GLXR. Only had the car for 4 months. Will be calling the dealer to fix this. I better not hear any excuses from them. Is there someting I can reference to them, like known problem number?

Mine started squeaking at about 4900kms. Just rang dealer and said I had the squeaky spring problem in the rear, and could I get the silencing kit ordered and fitted under warranty. No questions asked, they didn't even listen to the squeaking, just took my word. It's a pretty well known problem as far as I know within Mitsubishi, and the parts are hard to come by- I had to wait almost 1 month.

The fix is as posted in the pic a couple of posts above - no squeaks post fitting.

We've seen plastic and teflon pads between the leaves and various types of pads on the retainers. I hope it works but I think a big hammer and can of spray grease is in the offing. ;)

If work is so terrific, why do they have to pay us to do it?

HI

Mine goes in on Wednesday to Motorama, only done 18oookms and when I rung they knew the problem, why dont they fix it from factory at new and save all the agro and hassle for everyone and the cost. Its being done under warranty but they have the vehicle for the day. Hopefully will fix the problem as I sick of spraying the springs.

The silencing kit silenced mine for about 9000kms, but then it came back.

So too do my new Ultimates - but I had already made friends with the squeak. Annoying, but a feature of the Tritons!

Mine has just started at 900km, told them that I want them to order the kit and install at the 1500km service, they said it has to be assessed first even though they could hear it over the phone while I rocked the car!

Also said there was no part number for the 2012 model silence kit! I didnt think anything has changed since at least 2009???

The Tritons are renowned for squeaking and a lot of it comes from the great flexbility in the rear end. As the spring flexes or even settles into place, the leaves will move sideways a bit and rub on the retainer clamps at the front and rear of the spring. This is the main cause of squeaking. To stop the squeak, just loosen off the U/Bolts and realign the pack using a mallet. Once it's straight again, re-tighten the U/Bolts.

Mitsubishi use the silencer kit on the retainer clamps and we do use a plastic insulators to try and limit the noise. Eventually the leaves will wear through anything so realigning the pack is the best method.

Just received mine back from the dealers today, had the same thing fitted as 5immo's pic above, no more squeak in the rear, hope it lasts.
Also had my squeaky drivers door fixed, said the metal strap was loose, all fixed under warranty.
