Well, I was fine until we had our little run into the Brindabellas and someone mentioned suspension squeak on the radio. Within two minutes mine were squeaking away like a pair of very chirpy mice. Haven't stopped since, although there was some wet stuff falling from the sky that slowed them down a bit. 6000 km.

If work is so terrific, why do they have to pay us to do it?

Some sad info on the squeak.

If your car has the "new" leaf kit standard - say '08 model onwards, or you have the stealer mod already done, your suspension will start to squeak again - mine did from about 5000k's.

The only fix the stealers have after that is gerni and some grease. Some don't even use grease.

Apparently Hiluxes have the same problem???

Typical Toyota to copy all the good features of the triton. Next they'll have wind down rear windows, a more car like interior, shocks that are waaaay to skinny, curves in the body and a price tag $10K cheaper..........not. :P
I'd rather have a full bottle in front of me than a full frontal labotomy!

The sqeek is back already after the hot fix. It is worse and higher pitch, I can't hear it when driving but hear it when I rock the car. It came back after putting the boat in off the beach, I got nowhere near the water but, must be some sand in there somewhere. Will just have to put up with it!

My start squeaking after our first 4wd trip, it has only 4500km on the clock.
Anyway after I gave it wash last weekend, I got a can of spray lub and sprayed the 3 keeper/ guide plate on each spring set and this solved the problem. So in the end an easy fix But still very annoy for a new car.

I'm reading all these damn posts dating back to 2007, saying there should be a fix soon, all the while thinking about the fact that my bus has done 1400 kms and they're freakin squeaking like mice......

Not happy.....

Yours probably had the "fix" done prior to leaving the factory as well. There's only one real solution.......... Ditch the standard suspension and buy some decent aftermarket stuff. You could even get a lift thrown in for free. ;) I was resigned to this even before taking delivery of the car. The standard stuff is seriously sub-standard when compared to aftermarket or even other vehicles in the class.

mine didn't squeek for about 1000klms. started after my first 4wd foray into the bush.

dealer said they 'have taken photos of it' when reported at 1500klm service. that was nice of them. mine is a late 08 build so they obviously have not fixed it on the production line up until then.

squeek is less of a worry though than the downright dangerous and 'skittish' behaviour when unloaded on rougher roads. although the barwork alround and the metal canopy have had a positive effect on handling and settled it a bit.

Has anyone tried, or though of trying this - >> http://www.wd40.com.au/3inone/white_lithium_grease.php

Not sure if it would fix the problem but it might last a bit longer than WD-40

Yep that's what I got from supercheap when MLVR08 posted it works.

It does work for a few months (longer than WD40 anyway) but gets some crap caked on it - especially if you go in the sand.

I think a good silicon spray would be the best and will use that next time they start...which should be soonish

i've got both of these cans in the shed so waht is the best method? unload the springs with a jack on the body and then spray into the springs all over or just around the u-bolt locations?

Has any one had a squeak in the front suspension. I have only 600 kays on mine and i notice it squeaked after filling it up on the front drivers side. Hasn't seen a lick of dirt yet. Hope it doesn't get worse over the weekend.....

Snowman I just blasted around the ubolts, packers, the hangers and shackles - pretty much anywhere the springs met. I didn't bother with unloading them, but if you go to that trouble, the spray grease might be better than the silicon spray as it might get in better.

I was going silicon spray for penetration.

i think the squeak comes from the parts that hold the leafs from splaying out , not sure what there called ,
when the suspension gets compressed the leafs move up towards the tray but they also move back and forwards to compensate for the change in radius , when the leafs flatten out , and they rub on these alignment parts and mixed with dust theres your squeak

ive been thinkn bout some kind or bearing or roller system so it doesnt rub , more of a roll
no friction = no squeak

thanks guys, funny you know, i don't think i have heard the squeek for a few days, probably due to the rain which makes sense. cats and dogs in sydney at the moment. gotta love a new set of muddies in the pools of water along the roads - straight through, yeah baby!

when it dries out, and inevitably squeeks again, i might just spray selectively to see where it is. will keep u posted as i learn.

Had mine to the dealer yesterday also for the squeeky supspension.
Was hopefull for new springs (before I go adding bits to the rear- super springs)

Anyway, mine have squeeked since new (well I had the vehicle in the dirt within 100kms ;) )

mine is a 08 build so was susposed to have the "fix", apparently in mine its was broken, wouldn't have anything to do with trying to get max flex.

So they replaced the silencer kit and it doesen't have that rear annoying sqeek anymore, but certianly not noiseless.
