Went to the dealer to get my extended warranty registration stamped in the book. They refuse to do it unless they can inspect the truck. Apparently he said they must check if all the ecu updates are done. Fu@king inconvenient. I explained that the vehicle is serviced as per the service schedule. But no they must check it over.

I wonder if they will want to charge me for it. I'll be protesting if they do.

Wouldn't the vehicle service history have some record of whether the ECU updates have been carried out by them or not?

I just had mine booked in for its 120,000km service on Thursday and was happy that the cost came in $250 cheaper than their original quote, not to mention that 4 months of bugs and bull dust had been cleaned from the outside and inside of the vehicle when I went to pick it up- seems like some dealers are certainly a bit more accommodating than others.

It's serviced by them for all services except the recent 60k service. The dealer is just too expensive. My mechanic near work did the factory service and stamped by the book for way less than dealer service. Plus 100% better workmanship. The dealer recognisezed that my non dealer service was all good and legit but insist on an inspection prior to validating the 5 year bulldust warranty.

The question is this:

Should I be charged for an inspection for extended warranty validation?

They used the words " we need to check the ECU has all the recent updates".

I'm going to quiz them for fun

No Need for an inspection. Even if they want to they should not be charging for it.

I got my book stamped today for the 5 year warranty.

They inspected my totally back to stock ML and gave me no problems. They also carried out a recall on the ML which was a new reflash of the ECU.

Everything is back on now and im back to my healthy 500 and some NM.

Ive had no ill effect from the reflash, everything seems good and no reductions in power as was reported by others who have had the latest reflash.

No charge for the reflash and inspection. All good.

Please note, I have been getting my truck serviced at my local mechanic who does an awsome job. Books stamped by him etc. This in no way effects the 5 year warranty as its been gettin serviced as per the Mitsubishi schedules. Infact my mechanic does a better job imo.
