REMINDER - don't forget to register foryour 5-year warranty

Postby subi_man on Mon Nov 30, 2009 6:06 am

There would be a quite a few Tritons here in, or close to the last 6 months of the intitial 3 year warranty period. To get the 5-year Extended warranty you need to fill out the registration validation in the Service & Warranty book (page 4) and have it stamped by your $tealer within this last 6 months.

Consider yourselves reminded!! 8-)

Just to add to that.

When I bought the truck the dealer told me that they would register me for the extended.

However, me being me decided to check it out somewhere over in WA. The you fella went to the computer and found that it hadn't been done. He fixed it all up for me on the spot, no charge. Apparently he had to check a couple of things on the truck before he'd do it though. Probably hot line fixes and stuff I guess.

Thanks Subi,

The stealer told me it was covered for 5 years,
Never a mention of registrating it again.
Only in 2 weeks ago for service, i could have done it then.

I didn't get mine registered by the dealer when the truck was serviced back in July and when I realised this the 3 years was already up.I rang Mitsubsihi and was told that it didn't matter as long as the thing had been serviced properly by Mitsubishi it would still qualify for the 5 years. She also told me that they send every owner a reminder letter before the 3 years are up (which I never got).
When I took it in for servicing again last week I asked them to stamp the 5 year page and they wouldn't but I was told it was already on their system as having a 5 year warranty.Go figure...

I was told that I would be sent a reminder letter as well. Needless to say, it hasn't arrived yet.
BTW does anyone know a good Mitsubishi service centre on the Gold Coast?

REMINDER - don't forget to register foryour 5-year warranty

Postby fridgie on Mon Mar 14, 2011 6:29 pm

Strangely mine was registered for this when I bought it, have checked and am still covered (just over 4yrs old now) although I have had all bar 1 service done by mitsy.

Is it still the fine print for the newer models or has this been changed??

And Alco......think it's about 1.5yrs since you asked for the reminder so here is one for ya....Don't forget to register for the 5yr warranty next year Alco!!!
I'm not so good with the advice  ... Can I interest you in a sarcastic comment???

There's Helensvale Zupps on the goldcoast among others. Got really good service and they make sure all your paperwork is up to date.

So, If we haven't registered by now for a 2/2008 model....kiss 5yr warranty goodbyebye?

Please tell me more....have not heard of this option in South Africa. Do you have to pay to extend the warranty?

Any chance someone could scan and post the page where this is mentioned in the owners manual?

I recently enquired and to extend the warranty up to 5 years will cost me about $1300 with an external company, Mitsubishi South Africa's parent company, Daimler Chrysler South Africa doesn't cover it. There are some major limitations on the amount of coverage on this aftermarket warranty. For example, the warranty doesn't cover head gaskets or cracked heads!

No Zantus, the Triton/L200 comes with 5 year warranty (you have to register after 3 years) and 10 year drivetrain warranty for the original purchaser here in Australia.

It reverts back to the 3 years i believe if sold...
I hate to advocate drugs, sex, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they’ve always worked for me.

I purchased an 08 model GLX-R last Wednesday through Pickles Auctions in Newcastle and noticed on pick-up that the Extended Warranty Registration had not been validated by the previous owner.

Was a bit worried that my local Mitsubishi dealer in Broken Hill would not validate the extended warranty because it was 3 months overdue and I was not the original owner. But after talking to them they got in contact with the dealer of the previous owner who faxed through a complete service history and the extra two-year warranty is now validated. Very happy with the outcome in the end.

Booked in to get the ECU reflashed later next week, but after reading a few things in here not too sure if that is the best thing to do?

Haha, it must be that country hospitality that you always hear about. He even told be that, as long as it isn't covered in mud, he'll give the car a good clean inside and out for me when I bring it in next week.
