Clutch dampener

Postby msquito on Sun Aug 01, 2010 3:27 pm

Hi,

Just thought I would let everyone know about a recent problem I have had in my 2008 petrol manual triton.

I was driving down the Stuart highway to Adelaide from Alice springs when I went to pull into a service station for more fuel. Pushed the clutch in to change down gears and the pedal didn't come back up off the floor :(

Eventually got the car towed to the Mitsubishi dealer in port Augusta where they told me the clutch dampener had failed and was leaking. They tried to fix it and said they couldn't find a visual fault but it kept leaking no matter what they did.so now I have to wait until at least Wednesday for parts to come in from Sydney to get it fixed. I will update this with what happens when I find out

Costs under $20 to airbag anything under 3kg overnight and not much more for 5kg...you'd think they'd do that for a bloke who's stuck wouldn't you?
I hate to advocate drugs, sex, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they’ve always worked for me.

Well I got the car back today :) seems it wasn't the dampener that was causing it too leak but the pipe that went to it. I couldn't see anything wrong with the old pipe but anyway all sorted :)
