Pajero with 3.2 motor & rack & pinion steering has no issues, so why's there a problem with Tritons then............:-) :-)
Tip # 1 - Avoid stress & grief & low resale values with vehicles - do it once - do it right, buy a HILUX!!

The Hotline fix goes into power steering pump serials no.s and suggests replacement of pumps with certain numbers - one day i'll scan in the two pages relating to this fix so ppl can have a squiz at it :)

I've got it booked in next Wednesday for the dealer to do tests. Who knows what they won't find?

Subi! any joy with that list and an fix number? Joburg stealers know nothing about it, or they're lying.

i still have the symptom on the V6 and just got used to it now. but it is a bit disconcerting to hear that there are fixes for these things elsewhere in the world. But then again, suppose Sa is still in '94. :(

We have five Tritons (all desiels) from Mitsubishi away with us this weekend. I will be having a good look at this issue while we are running around.

We ended up only getting two Tritons. The rest were Pajero's.Both 3.2 deisels with one a GLS man with difflock and the other a GLX-R auto without difflock. Both went extremely well although they suffered from lack of ground clearance and te road tyres did nothing in the mud. One of the drivers has a Hilux and loved the Triton and didn't wan't to give it back. All they really need is a lift and decent tyres and they are quite good offroad. Also didn't think the difflock really made that much difference between the two. No steering issues on either of them.

Thaks again Subi for the hotline fix details. My car went in for power steering testing today. I left them a copy of it on the drivers seat just incase they didn't have their own.
They have just rung and confirmed a new pump is on order. Should have it fixed by the end of next week I'd imagine. 8-) 8-)

Thanks for the feedback pickle.
When you say you didn't think the diff lock made much diff between the two what do you mean :-) that it made little diff with them engaged compared to unlocked :-) :-)

Yep, driving up a slippery track with ruts. The difflocked Triton had about six cracks at it before it got up. The unlocked Triton had about three. Both were bottoming out at the same place and the locked Triton had better tyres. Of course a lot of other factors come into it as we had untrained Mitsu staff driving the locked Triton. But watching both of them trying I didnt see the locked one really have an edge.

Well i got my dealer to do the hot line fix for the power steering yesterday but he was told by the Mits tech line that my vehicle was out of the range of the hot line fix and it would not fix the problem anyway. Apparently it is the "normal characteristics of the vehicle".
About to take the fight to Mits directly, wish me luck. :x

Ml - It's probably just the chunky tyres as you slow down, my mtr's on the paj do it as well, very noticable as you roll to a stop.

You put 33" tyres on 7" rims you might be finding that the tyres are "ballooning" and slight rub on the shock tower or other part of the suspension. Remember you have side biters (wider through the sidewall than "Rick" or others with ST tyres on the narrow rims?

Others with the 33" tyres have gone to 8" rims hence the tyres stand more "upright"

Sucks to be you, glad I bought a 3.2 :o
