check my tri please

What were your warranty claims and recall information

check my tri please

Postby har05l on Fri Feb 18, 2011 1:23 pm

Well after reading and complaining myself the tri was booked in today for the middle of march.

Items on the list I wanted checked were squeaky rear end, squeaky clutch, drivers window doesn't go up straight and driver's seat also seems to have too much free play in the top section.

I'll be crossing my fingers it's all warranted

The seat movement will be normal, this is through the height adjust mechanism.

Squeaky rear end will be the normal rear springs out of alignment, will be wty

Clutch could be the pivot point or internal in the bell housing, should be wty

Window i suppose may be normal, they wont automatically go up straight as long as the regulator pushes the window up to its stop position.

IMO

cheers

the squeaky rear end is a classic....i have this in mine. can of WD40 works a treat. its a packer/spacer at the bottom of the springs that needs some lube on it! it only developed this annoying feature after going to the beach for the first time!

lunatic ken. (lanotec).

in the years i have been here the noise about the spring noise is amazing and pretty much not solvable with standard gear particularly if you take it off road. mine started squeeing the day i took it off road. so a bit of mud etc.

i dont think it really can be solved by mits. plenty of aftermarket ones squeek as well but come to think about it mine dont ATM. :D funny how you forget when it is not there.

Generally the rear springs squeak when they get out of alignment and they rub on the saddles.

Mits are currently working on a fix but at this time all that can be done is realign them. Using a lubricant will only attract and hold dirt, sand and mud.

mate with all due respect the ML has been out since about 96 which is over 5 years and a subsequent model upgrade.

i wont hold my breath.

if they are squeeking and they drive you nuts - lubricate them.

Snowman,

I wont disagree with you, mine squeak as well, and yes it drives me nuts.

Lubrication might mask the problem but realigning will stop it, albeit for a short amount of time.

I tried the lubrication thing and having to spray it every weekend when i washed the car.

Now when they squeak get them realigned, its a warranty thing.

From what i know Mitsubishi are trying to fix it with different springs but cannot yet get it right.

Cheers

I think that leaf springs have been around for about 200 years actually and they all squeak and will forever squeak, they are not made to high quality specifications hence that everyones are different. LANOX worked for me and AG9111 has a solution for lubricating them as well.

As far as attracting dust, dirt, sand and mud etc, it is only attracting them on the outside whilst inside it is squeakless.

OK i hear you. scenario is.

i take it to mits so they can 'verify' and approve the fix........
then i take it back again and leave it with them so they can fix it....no car for a day

repeat scenario ever how often.

Lanotec.

and your problem is you wash it too much.......    no issue here with that  .

and to be brutally honest if Mits cant fix it they are not trying hard enough. i am sure it is easily solvable but will cost an extra 25c per vehicle etc and so it goes on and on and on......

All leaf springs will squeak when they get mud in them. How you deal with that is the issue.
My first method was to ditch the OEM junk.
Now when I put the squeak there, i fix it with a heavy duty Lanolin product and a decent pressure wash every now and then.

My springs have recently started squeeking. They are OME installed when i purchased the truck from new. little bit of WD40 seems to work.
Also have the squeeky clutch pedal. Anyone else have that?

i think youll find because the springs are designed to be fairly flat to reduce axle steer, this makes the leafs rub a lot more as they travel=...... no real long term fix
COME ON FULL NOISE!!!!

Snowman,

Is yours the ML or MN, The MN is a fix that takes 20-30 minutes at max, any dealer should just do it on the spot for you.
