Noisy Injectors

Postby RforRobert on Sun Apr 13, 2008 11:21 pm

I have just clocked up 1900kms in my GLX-R Diesel. At times (particularly when cold) the engine seems very noisy from injector clatter. Has anyone else had this situation. It isn't critical i suppose as the engine performs well but sometimes i need to turn the radio up a smidge to drown it out. RforR

Cold injector noise is pretty much normal, but if you are noticing injector noise coming and going when the engine is warm, you could talk to your dealer about Hotline Fix No. ML ML13-001 "ECU reflash" (for injector noise)

hope that helps you!

Mine had a ECU reprogramme last week - is heaps smoother unit now. Was mainly to get rid of surging, & its tendacy to 'hold on' to the trottle when cold. Hope that makes sorta sense.........!!
Tip # 1 - Avoid stress & grief & low resale values with vehicles - do it once - do it right, buy a HILUX!!

Is there a definition of 'poor mpg', as mine struggles to get anything better than 13L/100km.........

I think i may have sot my mouth off too quickly, my GLX-R is now suffering power surges and the ticking noise from under the bonnet, not to mention the a/c has shat itself once again (diff issue but still a pain in the butt!)

Just had the ECU Reflash last week with 30,000km service.

Much quieter now and engine more responsive, turbo comes in earlier.

Even fairly quiet on cold start. :)

Just as an update to this old post...
My Mitsubishi dealer now stocks Mitsubishi diesel injector cleaner.
I have tried it and it works suprisingly well. It's about $15 a bottle. :D :D
