Diesel Triton - Surging & flat spotting

Postby nad34wa on Sun May 04, 2008 10:43 am

I have a 2007 Diesel GLX-R, manual with about 12,000km's on it. At 2000rpm the car seems to hit a flat spot and surges (with blue smoke coming out the back). This last till about 2,600rpm.

It mainly does it when cold but does it randomly when warm as well. Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

I've had the ECU reflashed by the Mitsi dealer twice and its still not fixed. I rang head office and they told me there's supposed to be "another" fix coming soon.

If anyone has had any success trying other things i'd be glad to know.

Cheers

Andrew

Thanks mate. I found a few more posts I didn't see before. The problem is really p*ssing me off after putting up with it for 12 months. Actually writing a letter to Mitsi now.

I think I have the same thing...I have been complaining about the smoke for a while now (only 5000kms) and the surging....I thought that was just the 4 speed auto doing what it does.
If you get ait fixed pls let me know so I can go to my dealer and put the hard word on.

Is there some sort of fix number the Mitsu has or do I need to convince my dealer of the problem?

Hey Guys

I had that fix done recently and yes it did reduce the surging in the mornings but it still seems to be there only in 2nd gear though for the first 150m...weird hey!!...

Will advise when I go in for a service and keep you posted

cheers

Mine started the surging fiasco (at about 2K revs) with the occasional puff of blue smoke. Got about 1500 kms or so until next service so I'll get the fix done then.

I have just been into Mitsubitshi, there is another program being released this week (4 Sept) as last months fix is unsatisfactory. If your having trouble, go to your service centre and tell them that you want your program updated. My spluttering has gotten worse and fuel consumption up

I'm approaching my 15K service probably early next year. The truck has been reflashed twice and it still has the same problem the OP mentioned. I'm going to get them to change the suction control valve or the ECU as the truck is also dripping what looks to be oil or liquid soot from the tailpipe at early morning start ups.
