Service & Warranty

Postby Tri3ton on Fri Feb 03, 2012 4:18 pm

Hi all,

I just picked up a new 2010 GL-R with 45k's on the clock. It has full history including interim oil changes, though not with Mitsu. I'm curious about the 5 year warranty, as I understand it it's actually 3/2 extended setup?? Anywho, Am I obliged to have any servcing done through Mitsubishi to retain the warranty?

I called up for a price on the 60k and it's $1100, so I'm not really inclined to take it to them for that sort of coin however I have some concerns wether the mechanic that did the 30k would have done the tappets. Is there any benefit to putting it through Mitsu for this service or can one the national mobs take care of this service adequately?

Where abouts are you located? Having it serviced by the dealer for the 30K intervals is a good idea, as this is when the tappets need to be adjusted. $1100 for a service is crap though, I just had my 60K one done for $917, and people have been quoted cheaper again.

do some searching mate but the short story is use a licensed mechanic and GENUINE parts and your warranty for 5 years will be OK.

Tappets need doing every 30k on diesels. use someone who has half an idea.
This car is like a bad drug habit. It is taking all my money and time, my family are concerned, but new mods just feel sooooooo good.

No worries, I'm in Perth Fraz.

Might try and contact the mechnic who did the 30k and ask the question, might be a long shot. I might get Mitsu to do a minor at 52,500 and then I'll shop around for the 60k service and make sure they include the tappets.

Probably worth trying a specialist 4x4 mechanic who might know something about the car too

Just got the 45K service done on mine where all oils in drive train and fluids radiator and brake fluid are changed. They checked about the computer upgrade but it had already been done. Also they did the inlet manifold under warrantee so no probs with the five year warrantee all you have to do is contact Mitsi and give them details. The inlet manifold was three quarters blocked up, sort of like having a snorkel with a straw down the middle to get the air flow. Hopefully it will go even better now. My service cost me $608 a little extra than they said it would be as they fitted new wiper blades. They washed it for me too, included in that price. Blue Ribbon Mitsi in Ipswich was the dealer I went through. :D

They were pretty good about it at Blue Ribbon Mitsi really, service manager had a look and said yes it was carboning up quite a bit so they would order new manifold to be fitted at next service which was done free of charge. They apparantly start to surge a bit is one symptom then if they get too bad they die right down and go to limp mode so I was told.
