That price sounds about right ;)

The 105k includes manual gearbox/transfer case as well as standard service.

The timing belt alone is approx. $450 on its own.

A little help please,
I bought my 2010 MN GLXR AUTO at 118000km with the all service history up to date and stamped by the dealer.
After having surging issues along with the Air bag light problem I called the service dept to find out what they could do.
He went through some of the vehicles history which revealed it had had these problems before.
The inlet manifold was replaced with a newer version and the air bag fault was cleared a number of times. Waiting on looms now.
He then informs me that the timing belts have not yet been replaced and should be done at the next service at a cost to me of $700. I asked him, why then would the 105000km service have been stamped if it was not fully completed, or at least noted in the service book. He says well that's because it's not part of the scheduled service, it's an extra!
Going through the service book, it looks to me as if it's definitely part of the service schedule and should have been done as part of the 105k service or the book should not have been stamped indicating it has been done.
Am I right to be pissed off? And should they be replaced at their cost?
Please let me know what you all think.

Sorry to say but your dealer is right.

The timing belt is actually scheduled to be done at 100k km's but most stretch and include it with the 105k.

My log book states next to timing belt(s) under regular service, 4 wheel drive diesel....
"Replace every 5 years or 100,000km's which ever comes first"

In saying that I doubt yours has been done and as I stated somewhere yesterday I was recently quoted $450.

Shop around for prices if you can and I'd get it done ;)

Harro is right. It's due at 100,000 but some wait and get it done at 105. Sometimes the dealers forget about it totally and you need to remind them, a good dealer will remind you.

You bought it second hand so doubt you have any recourse with the dealer who serviced it, as it was the owners responsibility to get it done.

Thanks guys. Not really what I wanted to hear but thems the breaks.
Although I'm not quite sure why the service book didn't at least note that I was not done.
That alone would have had me looking around for another triton.
I even had the 120k km service without a mention of the timing belts by the service mechanic. I only found out after the air bag issues and at 125k km. I'm sure it would be the first thing they looked for had a major mechanical failure occurred.
Sorry for the rant.

Booked in today for timing belt @100k. Service suggested to perform the 105k minor at the same time. The next question from me was how much? Was given an indication of $600ish. Service is flat out...booked in at end of Feb. will update when I get the bill.

Shouldn't be too hard at all. Has been a fairly common problem over the years.

So just had my 90k service so preparing for the 105k where I'm going to have to have my long life plugs and timing belt replaced. I should mention I've got the petrol model. So what should I be expecting to be stung with, guessing it's going to be a biggy?

I thought the plugs were at the 90k? Depends where you go but from memory mitsubishi list in Perth is @$700 for timing belt. Ive recently had a combined 90 & 100 service. The 90 covers all the expensive bits, then the belts due at 100 wtf they do that is beyond me as service intervals are 15k so it should be 90 and 105 but no mitsubishi decide for something different lets do 90, 100 and 105  anyway rant over. Hughes price for 90k and belt including brake fluid flush and new coolant was $1800 or there abouts. Check your log book for whats due

Hi Diver, the plugs, like the belt, is at 100k. Thought I'd hold out for the 105k service. So by the sounds of things I'll be looking at more than $2000

No worries mate, it's still a while yet, just not looking forward to dropping $2k on a service, that's a lot of toys I could be getting for the beast instead. Spend $2k and you drive away with a car that still looks and goes the same
