Looking at cleaning the carbon out this week, would it matter if I don't have a torque wrench?

I wouldn't know mate but the workshop manual has torque settings and even an order for tightening the bolts. I assume it is all to do with not crushing gaskets but still getting a good seal without stripping threads etc. if you've done a lot of engine work and feel comfortable about such things I guess it would be okay but if you're an amateur like me then it's probably best not to take too many chances.

I've got two, one a kincrome and one I picked up from Aldi. Neither has been used yet.

Where are you located that is 6 hours away from Sydney? You might be able to borrow one from someone? I could post one of mine but unlikely I'd get it to you for the weekend.

I am interested in the 2.5 lt MN version if anyone has produced it...infact im real keen to see it. I have a flat spot in the acceleration and I suspect it is carbon build up choking the inlet.

Mojo.... :(

JakeMN wrote:Thanks Cowboy Dave, I've already put a couple of things together in a Word document so no need to send it, I'll attempt to keep it in a similar format though and I'll send it through to you once compiled to be checked over.

Also, I'm not a mechanic so obviously there will most likely be better/safer ways to do things so any suggestions from other users who read the guide are more than welcome.

Hi Jake, did you end up putting anything together?

I've got the 2.5 ML, it would have the same manifolds etc as the MN right?

Thanks, Mark

Hi, could I please get a copy of the MN version. It would be much appreciated. Mine is surging like a mofo. It's going to dealer for a look, but I think they may only check/clean the SCV.

I would like to do the clean myself. Thanks very much.

Just wondering Dave, is there a reason you can't post the pdf up in this thread? There would be a few who would benefit. I'd be interested as well. Not ready to do it yet (still waiting to receive Tonys EGR mod :| ) but would love a flick through in the meantime.
Cheers,

Because it's not finished.

As I said in another thread today:

Well Cowboy Dave, I'd like to add the "MN Manifold Clean" to my list of things I haven't got round to doing as well, so if you could throw me what you have I can then tell the Missus I'm just reading up on it now.
Thanks in advance. ;)

Any update on this. I've got a euro MN and could do with cleaning it up. Anyone know what tool is needed to remove the glow plugs?

There are a few differences when you compare them in the manual - including that some of the euro MNs are running DPFs !!

just a couple of Q's?

Does anyone have any problems with the injectors after letting air into the system?
Do the injectors have to be re-coded? and do you need to prime (Pump) the system before start up after the manifold/fuel line?
thanks in advance. :)
