Anyone recommend a mechanic in Albury

Postby brett_weld on Tue Jan 14, 2014 2:27 pm

After a mechanic in Albury for a oil change fuel filter and replace brake pads front and rear (already have these) . Am travelling Oz so pretty hard to do it in van park otherwise I would. Got quoted nearly $900 this morning and almost fell over. Any recommendations from Albury members would be great. Thanks in advance. Brett

if you got the gear and the time I'd jst do it at the van park if ya got the tools ..rather spend time than money...if money isn't an issue then I guess it's easier to get some one else to do it...

Thanks for the replies. Wont mention names. Think price was steep cause he caught on I wasnt local. Having trouble getting out of pool in this heat. Will probably do it myself as $900 will get me a fair way around the country. Thanks again fellas.

Yeah I live very close by mate and all the mechanics that have given me quotes have been over priced.

Lucky my Dad is a mechanic

Yeah if ya on a budget and got the time and the know how... just do it ya self. ;) Find a shady spot away from everyone, some van parks and councils have rules about doing mechanicals on site so make sure you check this first, start early in the morning, have containers to catch sump oil and rags to clean up. Most towns have local tips with wast oil facilities, just tell them you're a local so you don't pay. ;) We traveled around Aus on a budget last year doing this and the savings on service costs alone were huge. Not to mention getting the job done right.

Wodonga recycle center collects the waste oil free of charge from memory.

Post up on the forum next time you need to do a service.
If you were in Melbourne and needed to do it, I would have offered up my garage and I'm sure there are plenty of other members who would do the same if you were in there local area.

Hi Brett

I used to live in the area years ago I had Albury Automotive do some repairs for me.

It was a major fix and I was very happy with their workmanship, price and follow up on repairs. If I had to go see a mechanic in the area again this is were I would be going.

I would be keen to hear how you get on
