Servicing surprise

Postby cliffo01 on Tue Jan 13, 2009 5:32 pm

Just thought I would throw this out there to guage the reaction.

I just paid $867.45 for a 45,000km servicing at a Mitsubishi dealer!!

Nothing extra, just the basic servicing. Great truck, but the servicing costs are getting out of control.

Cheers

Some do as part of their lease agreement.
I paid for mine outright, i.e. no finance, therefore all services, tyres and other consumables are at my expense.

I don't believe that people are still paying this kind of money for "book" servicing. I recently had my MK done for 115,000 which is the big one (timing belts, plugs(manifold off) and everything else and the total cost, with parts was under $600. Normal services are around $150-$200 and all work is warranted and the book stamped to comply with warranty.

Find a good local mechanic who will make sure that everything is right - there are lots of them around and they won't all rip you off.
Chris

If work is so terrific, why do they have to pay us to do it?

I do like it when people are shocked when they get the price off the stealers........
Ask the price, laugh, tell them their joking and go next door. There is ALWAYS a local mechanic around that does log book services a lot cheaper.
That is why he's there. DEALERS ARE EXPENSIVE
The price for a 30,000 service in Wynnum, $650 Dealer. JOKE..............
The price of the local mechanic around the corner 30,000 AND front strut spacers fitted ( bitch of a job) Moved the exhaust to clear the shackle extentions, $340.
He knew how much the stealers were charging so he just under-cut them. Probably would go lower :D

If you are in WA metro and south of river. Give one of my two stores a call. Auto Masters Belmont on 94782733 or Auto Masters Spearwood on 94187100. Will be lower than dedaler. Qualified mechanics (not 16 yr old know nothings), stamped book, will not void warranty, able to speak to people and get straight answers, no work done without approval. All the things we want when we get any sort of service provided.
Mike.

I have no intention of having my Triton serviced by Mitsubishi...I have a good mechanic that charges a good price for reputable work....

With my Hilux I went to the dealer for the first couple of services...I decided to do an oil change every 5K...I dropped it out 24500 and it was black...not a chance that oil was 4500k's old.....it makes you wonder.....

Im gonna do it myself at 7500km and just get the bits from the mitsu service centre and get them to sign the book.

I also asked them to look at the squeaky suspension, and they said that the 'suspension fix' had already been incorporated and they couldn't idetify any sqeaks. Wankers - it squeaks as soon as you sit in it ! Dont need to drive it over bumps, just wind window down, or walk near the car driving round the car park and they would have heard it.

Will be filling out the little 'customer satisfaction' survey they left in the car - and ticking the unhappy boxes in the '"Was your vehicle fixed right first time" question. Hopefully it will make its way back to the dealer and they will come crawling back......

75k service done yesterday at dealer on 2014 mn auto only done 49000k but left the dealers $1074 lighter in my wallet. Tappets adjusted, throttle body serviced ,and small learn injector service. 90k next service requires the timing belt. Better start saving now for it.
