EGR/ Tappet adjustment regularity MN Triton

Postby Monaro03 on Fri Jul 09, 2021 7:27 pm

Evening all,

Just wondering once you shut down the EGR in Triton MN, how often should you do tappet adjustment considering there is no carbon build up? I was told by a mechanic if you let it go for to long, tappets can go in reverse and not close. Any advice appreciated.

cheers in advance.....

Manufacturer recommendations are every 30000 kms or 2 years

Slack me did mine for the first time just short of 90,000km and six years. Some had closed a little, about a thou. It now idles a lot smoother. The gear stick used to shake as if one cylinder was firing a little different to the others. After the adjustment the stick is doesn't shake at all. Bugger of a job accessing the rockers, my hands are nearly recovered from all the minor injuries. Took me three full days to do all the belts and the tappets, I was very careful and rechecked everything multiple times.
