EGR Valve clean

Postby smelf1111 on Mon Oct 04, 2021 11:03 am

Hi all,

I have the engine mgmt light on and the EGR throwing the error. 2012 MN Triton

I have soaked the bolts in wd40 but they wont budge.

Any tips or guides on getting them off as I want to remove the EGR a & b and give them a good clean.

If its the 14mm head size bolts then they are just tight

its both the 4 at the top holding the EGR to the engine and then the two at the bottom holding the pipe to the engine.

I did not want to strip the nut or break the head off. Will try to get more leverage on it and see if i can budge them

Try cracking the bolts when the engine is hot. I did it and it cracked but it gives me a scare when the bolt cracked

well did not even get the chance to do the egr, got a breaker bar and long reach sockets yesterday. But today the wife decided to take it out earlier and it broke down.

Instead of driving her new car and leaving the triton at home so I could remove the egr this weekend.

She could put into gear but it would not drive, just black smoke. So just got it towed to mechanic.

From the mechanic so far they have to drop the gear box to see whats happening as it goes into gear just wont move.

EGR is clogged so needs replacing and the manifold is supposedly clogged and needs a proper strip and clean
