Mud Matt's Build

Postby mudmatt on Wed Jan 11, 2012 10:42 pm

Hello all
Finally got around to the build side of things. Bear with me as the actual triton build has not yet begun. Thought some of you guys may be interested in the tray though and what is being thrown on it (mostly held down with spatter that could loosely be called welding). Also this is my first go at photos on a forum so......

Well my basic triton on the day i got it home

see even the hiefers seem to like it. (no jokes about someones missus, Im new and dont need that reputation)

got some bells and whistles on the tray. Bloke did a top job. PM me for details as i do reccomend him (colac vic.)

Now on to the serious side of the tray

As you can see. Everything was thrown onto it as well as in it. It needed to be straightened up so a frame was in order.

Mate of mine who was helping build the frame. Owns a mazda bt-50. Even still nice guy

Idea is everything will be on the frame and will be able to use the front end loader to get it all off in one go.
Why? You may ask. Im a farmhand so I'll be needing the gear on the the back for contracting. That is also why it may
look a bit agricultural. I usually drive these sorta things as well as others with wheels and some without.

So back to the gear on the back. Here is how it will sort of look once completed

Obviously the welder and grinder are there because i was to lazy to take them off for the photo.

Suspesnsion will need upgrading along with the bullbar, scrub rails and side steps. Will post more when done
Great site and big thanks to Quinny67 for the how to, if it works :D

Thanks fellas. Yeah salt36, located near colac victoria. The shot of the header was when i was up near walget in nsw in november. Flat country up there, takes 3 days for the dog to run away. They could be hungry, ive been puttin them on fire patrol. There just like a schapelle corby lawnmower. Hold 20kg of grass.

Welcome aboard matt, I would have to agree with salts comment and I'm thinking Victoria may have the equivalent of what NSW has, farm tony :)

So the build up became a bit of a saga. As the pictures will dare say, i have had to start again. Fortunately no injury except to the hip pocket.

As you can guess she rolled onto her lid. Not what I was planning on doing

Heres a trick for new players when you do this, leave the bugger alone for longer than 5 minutes. Being pissed off i rolled it back over and jumped in to drive back home from the paddock. Either oil started burning or the throttle cable got tuck because she took off under its own steam. Scary enough after what had just happened.

Well onto the good news, inurance has come through and after 6 months I have my new ute. Lessons have been learned and calves have been threatened to be shot if they get out again. Even with this depressing crap going on I have till had a great time on the site. While not being active (no ute to partake with) it has given me ideas which are already being implemented on the new one.

So thanks everyone for making this site that enjoyable even some idiot like me can still gain enjoyment and info with out a new triton for the last six months. Look forward to posting up picks of the new rig soon.

Yeah dave, there is now one very expensive steer running around here. The little bugger got out of his paddock. Me being a bit impatient didnt go back for a bike and used the triton for a quick muster. Long story short I chased the bugger and went to head him off. Then clipped the back wheel on a rock(a chunk of mag was sitting near it). Over she went. No airbags, just one extremely shocked driver.

Well here is my new triton. I suppose this is triton 2.0
So far the mods are:
bullbar, (arb)
Bashplates, (arb)
Tray, same as before as was happy with original
GME 3300 and antenna
Work lights
Black duck seat covers
Oversize sign and beacons for work.
On the back I have a new drop in frame with jerry can, slide out water container, new tool box(old one did not like having a triton on top) and new air compressor(same as toolbox)

Can see the old girl in the background.

You wouldn't believe that even with all that people still wont take notice of a 4 metre wide header travelling along behind.

Cheers guys
