The DMS has 20 click compression and rebound dampening on both front and rear shocks.
T7000 billet alloy hard anodised, 25mm Cro Mo shafts, adjustable up to 3" though will be setting them at 2", piggy back canisters fully serviceable units.

The Duratracs are about 50% worn at 40k so I've been wrapped with them. With this wet weather we've had of late I thought they may not be up to some of the greasy conditions in the HC. Tufftroop runs them on his ML and rates them as the best traction tyre he's ever had. I've never owned a full blown MT so thought I'd see what the hype is about.

With the lockers... Well I've been deliberation for the last two years. I wanted to go the Harrop E Locker. It worked out @ $2600 for the front only fitted through OL. That didn't include carrier bearings. 4wd Supplies was next option. With Glen deciding not to sell them anymore as there have been oil seal failures associated with the manufactured product TJM was the only option. After researching the Pro Locker I realised they use a totally different actuator that makes it impossible to leak and get oil in the air line as is what happens to some ARB and the reverse engineered Chinese units.

Plus the fact that the sale came up and I was able to get twin locked with install for a bit more than the single E locker option.

Yeah bank balance... Not looking too bad though I've spent my toy fund budget for the remainder of 2014... possibly till the end of the second quarter 2015...

DMS was $2200 inc GST and delivery as they were running a special to get them out there.

TJM Pro Lockers $2450 inc GST + $600 install and I supplied bearings @$180 This included the compressor, wiring kit and bonus sale items.

MT 117 Sports $900 set of 4, $225 ea including fitting and balancing. Going to put them on the 16x8 Pro Comps and keep the H3's and Duratracs as daily runners.

Update...

So in setting up for the HC trip I've installed the DMS suspension. Running 570mm at the front and 630mm in the rear.

First impressions are great. Looking forward to getting off road and giving them a workout.

New hoops are mounted onto the rims. I'm hoping I survive the 900km trip without going deaf from the roar of these bad boys...

The third part of the puzzle was the twin TJM pro locker install. Well that has been a total balls up. Long story short, there is no rear Pro Locker available for a 9" 28 spline centre as fitted in the MN. The only locker available is the 9.5" 31 spline unit.

Suffice to say there is a serious storm brewing between myself and the franchise owner and I'm not one to ever give up.

So TJM does not do a rear locker? :( I think you were getting the twin locker deal. What now?

Was it the one at nailsworth or the one at st Mary's? I suppose it doesn't really matter too much...I have just never really rated the guys at Nailsworth and think they are a bunch of (insert name here)!!!

Did you still get the front done? And what are you're thoughts now about the rear??

It all depends what you have in yours. You don't really know till you pull an axle out and count the splines.

I reckon if you get on a dealer machine they can tell what diff from your vin. When I got the arb rear locker from OL they insisted on getting the vin before they'd order the parts because they knew there were two different models.

Motoz MN GLX R: Evolution of a Warrior

Postby motoz on Wed Jun 11, 2014 7:42 am

So back to the build...

I burnt the midnight oil getting 'Emmen' ready for the HC. I ended up having a few dramas with installs though it all came together in the end.

The Silverstones took a little getting used to at $1 on the drive over. There a big tyre. For a 285/75 x 16 they're almost 34" tall and and 12" wide. At speed there fine though at the start they were quite squirmy in the corners.

Kind of like driving on 50c pieces... lol

Speedo was 4km out @ 100km/h via GPS. Off road they were AMAZING. The grip level and traction in the clay and rock was brilliant.

It was also the first outing with the DMS package. I had to set the fronts at 590mm to give enough clearance for the MT 117's. The dampening was set on 15 for the drive over. It felt as stable as the Ultimate previously fitted. Going off road on the Saturday they felt a little stiff. I changed them down to 10 and the difference was amazing.

The Silverstone's were aired down to 20psi also.

Great flex and comfort for the weekend...

Looking beastly Motoz. Does the DMS kit offer any more flex up front?
Cheers, Ben.

It's still limited by the standard geometry. On the soft setting there seemed to be a lot more usable flex. I didn't lift a front wheel all weekend which was a common with my old setup.
