Yea the only problem with the bends is cleaning up all the welds. a bit of work but the end result is pretty good.

Hey Tassie
Thanks for your nice comments on the bar work,it's getting there I hope to have them finished before I get over to Tassie for work I will be there for about 10 months on and off,so i want them finished before I leave.
I picked the tray up on eBay at a good price pretty happy with it to.
The company that built the tray is fleet trades and they have a couple of dealers in Tassie check out there web site.

That's it mate i'm being slack.:):)
It is a part of my big plan in 5 years when my long service is available we are spending 8 weeks doing the cape, and I want it to be as easy as it can be and I don't want to be towing a trailer.;)

Just be careful with a slide on and the dual cab. I checked it out and a lot wanted to extend the chassis...
Or as Speedy Gonzalez once said, it won't hurt, did it

Ok thing's are about to change on the triton in next couple of month's :D
I have Just sold the canopy to timbo who is on this forum, he is coming over tomorrow so we can swap it over to his triton.
The tray is booked in for powder coating as I don't want the alloy look. :D
Once that is done of comes the tub hopefully a long range tank will go in while the tub is off. ;)
But before i can do all that every thing has to be removed from the tub duel battery, compressor and tank, also my draw system.
I think I have just made myself a lot of work. :o :o :o :o :o

sounds good Rats, cant wait for some pics.

unfortunately, taking the tray off doesnt help too much with fitting the LR tank if its going to replace the factory tank. The factory tank is more under the cab than the tray ;)

keep the pics coming, what colour are you going to do the tray ???

Don't tell the wife that's the excuse I'm using to get the tank. :D
The tray will be in satin black I think not 100% sure yet.

Yea tassie it will get a canvas canopy made for it.
The main reason for the tray is for the slide on camper I think I'm sold on the cameron camper.
Here is a article about the camper.

Rats Build

Postby ratstriton on Sun Jun 26, 2011 4:31 pm

Ok all the sides and bits I want powder coated are at now at the powder coaters. :D The tray was easy enough to strip it was like one big meccano set bolts and lock nuts every were.
So with it all striped down I was looking at the tray and the last owner had spilt black oxide on it and it looked a bit shabby so I was just going to leave it as half the time you will never see it. But me being a little bit pedantic ;) i started cleaning it with a wire brush, that was to much like hard work so down to bunnigs to get a wire wheel for the grinder.
This is how far I got as I worked today  .Click to view larger picture

Hey Tex
I have been studying hard and I think I have checked out all the available slide on campers there are.
I'm now waiting on a caravan show that's on in October so I can make a final choice.
