Took me just under 2 hours to remove the diff assemberly and disassemble it replace the parts and put diff back into triton so can drive it tomorrow :) . Next thing to do is wire up the reverse spotties then work out how to mount my awning hmm

Just came across this  Nice truck mate....a quick couple of Q&A's if you will.

By stub axle are you referring to the CV's Scott?

And how are you breaking them if you don't mind me asking? What particular conditions are you doing it in and which side is the most common?

Nice looking rig TT 8-)

I'm also curious to how you keep braking the CVs (if that's what you're referring to). You must be driving it really hard.

Cheers guys , not the cvs , inside the front diff there is a shift fork Made from crappy alloy that the actuator on the bottom of the diff slides across when put into 4x4 and locks the front wheels in. this is made from crap and snaps where the fork starts.. The arb air locker centre must have slightly different splines than the misty stub axle as The splines had stripped on stub axle ( sits in the diff housing and fork slides over it with a synchro and locks the lhs wheel. I've also snapped one!

Ill get some pics tonight to explain it . Not a bad job to do . But doing so many at work also makes it hard to do at home after hours haha :)

Conditions this particular time were soft sand pickedup one wheel and just let go. No idea why it went.. I'm used to m Toyota still I think :p needa go a bit easy onthe misty!! Here's a fresh pic I tool before I had it on my hoist to do the diff! Click to view larger picture

Mate dont touch the strut spacers, just sell your old EFS stuff and get some Ultimate gear, with the collar adjustment, thats what i did. I had EFS struts with King Springs, and 6mm spacers, and since changed them over, and the ride diff is rediculous...id be going Ultimate gear for sure mate....

Yeah? I just hate the front end sag. The suspension itself is fine but gues with the bar work and winch etc it just didn't like it! Might have to invest in some new struts and springs I rekon !! Cheers mate.

Not all had arb air lockers , but some are just stupidity like turning the car off while still running , therefor snappin the shift fork as its all vac operated etc..

like ML-VR08 said, steer clear of the strut spacers. have seen a few different vehicles ruin struts because they haven't been set-up properly. Give ultimate or me a PM and we'll set you up with a quote for some new springs, shocks and struts ;)

See the build up of my old Triton here.

Do you activate the front locker while still moving? The arb guy told me you could but I won't take that chance... :?
I'm not so good with the advice  ... Can I interest you in a sarcastic comment???

Haha yeah only 5 hours from Adelaide too. I would love to take it on the high country trip but were taking jocks triton instead :-) will be heading to the 4x4 show in october in adleiade ! Can't wait.

Also just fitted some lightforce xgt spotties to the front as lots of Roos and I do fair bit of night driving so needed lights , and got them cheap so that's good , these will do till I get a lightbar or hid spotties!!

Now heres the man to ask about the front diff, transfer case and auto on an MN. Namely can breathers be fitted?

Off topic i know

Love the truck mate. Must be awesome with all wheels locked when off road? How does the front Locker compare with the rear?

I clearly remember Joe stating categorically that he prefers it in the bottom

I didn't say it was better in the bottom, I just said it was easier and quicker.

Love the locker mate , if u can defiantly do it!!

Breathers on a auto mn aren't possible as far as I know. Which sucks! I've seen extended auto trans dipsticks on some cars that have come in but no breathers as such sorry , also can't find anything on the Mitsubishi manuals I have here either
