To be honest I'm not 100% sure. I think it's leaf.

The Navaras have a coil rear end now, my parents are taking delivery of one in the next two weeks and when talking about suspension upgrades all that was mentioned was coils.

Ha cheers mate.

I never intended it to become like a novel. There's always more than one way to set these vehicles up.

Build em to suit your needs I say.

Forgot to mention another little addition I made a while back.

I grabbed one of the little 12v ovens from Dick Smith online. It was only $19 delivered.

Made sure I took it to the HC. The others were quite envious when we stopped for lunch and pulled out 2 crispy hot pies and washed them down with a couple 600ml Ice Coffees from the fridge.

There a brilliant little unit. Fully sealed and spill proof. Also cooked hot jam donuts and toasted ham and cheese rolls.

Thanks mate.

The lights are genuine Ralliart items from Japan. There was a group buy of 125 pairs from one of the Triton clubs in Malaysia. The last of the available stock.

I secured 10 pairs which have all gone. A mate was after some the other day. I contacted the TTCM boys though all sets have been sold.

Hi Dave,

Do you have a diff drop fitted to your truck?

I heard that a Mat from OzTriton might be making some! Otherwise I found superior engineering have a rear only mount that drops it a little.

Cheers

Nothing sinister.

Looking for something bigger and am wanting to get a wagon. All the new vehicles are quite uninspiring so I've got my eye on a 4.2 TD 100 series Kakadu.

Problem with lots of vehicles is that if you want a certain drive train combo or other feature you have to also buy a heap of yuppy, frilly stuff aimed at suburbanites!

Don't need/want leather seats, false wood inserts, bits of chromed plastic stuck everywhere.
Don't let the b'strds get you down!!

Update.

Since my last post Emmen had a hissy fit and spat all the coolant out the exhaust.

130 degrees and boiling coolant in the overflow bottle no limp modes or codes thrown

After 3 dealership s assessment the final one came to the table with a new motor. Complete short motor and complete head assembled by engine builder.

Kudos to the dealer who even replaced timing belts and other auxiliary component at no cost to me.

Considering it's done 103000kms and an 09 model it was way outside of warranty yet MMAL showed serious goodwill in coming to the table on this.
1yr 20,000km warranty on the new donk.

I feel it's time to move on so will get it ready for sale.

Great outcome Motoz. Pffff good will you say... It's how it should be, mate.

And it still amazes me how hard some of these dealerships want to make it.. Why did it take 3 different dealerships?

Hey Motoz just wondering did you just look down and see that it was 130 degrees or did you watch it rise to that number. Just wondering as I look at the scan gauge quite a bit and it always sits on 89 and I wonder if I do have a problem whether it will happen so quickly that next time I glance at it she will be 120+ or if it happens slowly and I can watch it rise and back off before I create a larger issue

Yes it's a hard one.

I took it to two dealers before a resolution. One dealer said that because there were no fault codes logged there was nothing they could do. They couldn't get it to boil on the test they performed.

The second told me it was my front bar winch, driving lights and intercooler blocking airflow to the radiator. Absolutely BS. You could hold your hand in the radiator and it was ice cold even though it was boiling coolant in the overflow bottle

I have a handheld OBD2 scanner. I looked and noticed the temp gauge maxed out into the red. Then could smell coolant.

Plugged in the scan tool and 130 deg.
Still no code logged !!!
That was the argument. Before the service / radiator cap recall mine sat on 88 degrees all day everyday. Post service work 97 deg operating temp. Then all the troubles started. The dealers advice was basically drive it till it blows up

To be honest I boiled mine 12 times before they did anything about it. I had to prove via videos taken on my phone that there was an issue.

When they let go it's always under load that they heat up real quick.

Makes you a little angry yet all is resolved thus far.

To be honest it all happened quite quickly. I live in the hills. The road from the city to my house is relatively steep and puts quite a lot of load on the engine.

Once the problem started every time I drove up the hill temps would climb very fast from about 95 degrees to 120 - 130 deg in a matter of seconds.

The motor was losing coolant out of the system very quickly,

I just kept topping it up and trying to get a resolution to the problem. Driving down the hills was fine and across the flats. Under load it was a problem. In the week and a half I tried to get it sorted it boiled 12 times. As posted the third dealer I went to acknowledged the issue and sent a report to MMAL for a replacement motor.

I haven't been told specifics so I can only assume it was losing coolant into the cylinders. They use about 9lt in the system. The level would drop so quickly that the inlet to the motor side of the radiator was cold yet the return was boiling hot. This would vent past the cap and be boiling in the overflow bottle.

The day before it was due to go in for the report I had to drive it home from work. I did a full system flush, replaced the thermostat and coolant. Bleed the system and started the drive home of about 30 kms. It boiled within 5 min of leaving work, all the coolant in the radiator was gone. There was oil blown out of the engine cap all over the rocker cover and the Provent was contaminated also.

It ended up on a flatbed truck and dropped of to the dealers for assessment.

What amazes me is during all that the ECU never logged a code nor did it ever go into limp mode.
