Thanks guys.

dan. im really impressed with the quick fists (glad i am as i spent about $150 on all different sizes)

ill be mounting my high lift jack with them when i get a chance to make the mounts. i like the fact they are strong, and being rubber, they wont let the items come loose and/or rattle.

my theory is, just put them everywhere. lol

once i think i have finished setting out the ute, these things will be holding shit down all around my place, grease guns on my trucks and machines, fire extinguises, small oxy bottles, small children to where ever i tell them to stay etc

i just need to sort out where to put the high lift/shovel, led light bar (not sure to go the roof or top of bull bar) max trax, fire extinguisher (i want this outside the car and easy to get to), fit the compressor and maybe a small resevoir tank with an external line, fit the front lokka and then i can start on finishing off the wiring. only 6 weeks left so need to pull my finger out.

could be worse, i could be like my brother and waiting for the insurance company to pay out so he can get a new car and start from scratch building it up again in 5 weeks or less

a quick update on the build, it is still ongoing, will hopefully have everything finished by the weekend as we leave for the cape next Tuesday :o . :o

ok so next thing on the list was fridge slides for the two fridges in the tray.

the frame around the fridges are 3mm 50x50 aluminium angle, and are a very tight fit around the fridges. the fridge slides are some low line stainless slides i got off ebay (120kg rated)

the angle that the slides are attached to is 6mm x 50mmx50mm which is bolted through the floor of the ute tray. every bolt i have used to attach anything on the tray has been drilled and tapped to keep the tray as clean as possible.

i have them facing each other so that the weight of the motors are in towards the centre of the ute and will hopefully act as a bit of a counterweight when the fridge is at full extension. I will need to put a piece of 3mm alloy as a partition between the two so that one fridge isnt blowing hot air into the intake of the other.

because of how far in the locks stick out i had to move the fridges further towards the rear that i wanted (originally planned to have them hard up against the water tank. whilst being a pain in the ass, it ended up giving me a space to put my rifles when hunting, boxes of cans when i want to can on like a mongrel  and anything else that i want to store in there without it getting thrown around whilst on the tracks.

when i get back i will make up ends for that space but i have no chance of getting it done this week with a heap of stuff still to be done.

You used Photobucket for your other photos, maybe there is a problem with the new photo website thingy?

ok found the issue with the pics.

high lift/shovel mounted to the roof racks as well as the LED Light bar.

since the photo i have also fitted my treads on the racks next to the high lift/shovel. i will get better pics this coming weekend when hopefully i will be finished.

After a cold and late night (well early morning actually) drilling/tapping, wiring soldering, heat shrinking, split tubing and saddling, i finally finished wiring in my clearance lights along the sides and rear inside the channel (yellow/red on the sides, straight red at the rear)

couldnt get a clear photo of the sides with the iphone at night.

forgot to get a photo of the numberplate mount, which is actually a swinging gate which i will put a small trundle tray behind when i get back from the trip.

got an air tank from tigerz11 to help with the airing up, plumbed it up to the compressor mounted inside the tray and figured the spot on top of my towbar looked like as good a place as any to mount the tank.

i just need to find a plug for the socket to keep mud and crap out of it, but figured i would try to keep it pressurised whilst playing in the dirty stuff to help keep stuff out of it.

i will get some better photos up later of the rest of the set up

I bought a plug for mine from clark rubber. I think it was supposed to be a rubber/plastic chair leg tip but if you get the right one it pushes over the top quite neatly.

Looking good bud. You get a lot of flexibility with your setup when you use a tray.

How do you rate the evakool fridges? I've been looking at them and they list some very low current draw (less than 1.0A pa from memory) compared to other brands and you've got two of them, so I'm assuming they live up to their claim. Doesnt seem to have been discussed much in other posts so your thought would be good to know.

Awesome handy work! How does the canvas fold up for the Awnings? Have you thought about putting in another couple of fridges just to be sure you have enough fridge space!!!!

Top effort!

Don't laugh, I have a 110l in the camper as well  We like our food.

Whilst we won't really need it on this trip I wanted a set up that we could be self sufficient for 6-8 weeks with only a water supply needed. Got another trip planned next year that will hopefully come off and see me crossing most states/territories.

The canvas for the awning folds up on itself from the bottom and is attached via Velcro at the top where it hinges from, so the sides are basically double thick when in normal travel mode.

Also when not touring, one fridge will be removed and ill put a toolbox on the slide in its place.

Just got my armour boy plastic boxes from the courier to put all our clothes and perishables in. Now to start filling them
