myself and sam(TUF909) made up a removable stoneguard for the ute, save any more stone chips, and my mate lost his rear window due to a stone smashing it after hitting his camper, and seen as though i have a bathurst trip coming up, so i figured it wasnt a bad $50 investment...

the hitch i use has a extra hole in it so we drilled two holes into the bit of box that is welded to the length, in which the hitch goes through. same as putting the hitch into the towbar pretty much, with a nut welded to bottom with a bolt to pull tight. then i have to ocky straps on each side to stop any movement, which is minimum anyway, i will get some more photos tomorrow.

Lunnys Build.

Postby mattz on Sun Aug 25, 2013 6:35 pm

Thanks mate.
That's basically what I was thinking of doing.......without the RW Williams mud flaps.

I'll be interested to see how it goes.
What sort of trips are you planning with it?

going to bathurst in october for the race, so theres 1300 odd highway kms there n back, and then really when ever i use the camper, but seen as though its made to take off in 2 mins, i can take it off once i get to any destination as i would be afraid of ripping it off if i went to insane offroad with it, so its mainly highway and light offroad use.

and whats wrong with the rm flaps... lol

Hey Lunny, do you notice the fan coming on more with your bar and spotties combo? Was thinking of removing mine (Narva 225) to see if it made any difference. With the aircon on, up Cape York last month, the rad fan was constantly cycling on and off. I do have a winch also.

I don't have a winch, so there is a lot of airflow coming through that area, but compared to no bullbar and bullbar with lights, I have not noticed any major difference..

Funny, now I think of it, a guy I met on a trip a while back said his gq ran cooler with the spottys on, he seems to think they were creating a "suction" as such and pulled the air around them? Made more sense when he explained it.

so a bit of an update to the build added a scangauge to monitor the car on the way to bathurst a few weeks ago, was good to see what the

Click to view larger picturecar was doing.

Just last week i had a a battery in the back after helping tuf fit a dual battery system and forgot to take it out and well somehow she decided she wanted to leak in the tray so therefore this happened..

So i gave it a baking soda treatment and a coat of paint before i take it to my partners uncles for a new coat of paint on the back.

and just a photo from the latest trip upto teewah, bit annoyed that tufs car gave up 4 wd and he couldnt join us.
ooo and you might be able to see the new bonnet protector

Other than that, its going in for its 45000 service next week...

I've taken my sidesteps off due to them being bent as a rainbow. However on dirt roads this means rocks are getting kicked up into the paint work something shocking. Just warning you.
