NickTriton's Single Cab

Postby NickTriton on Sat Jun 01, 2013 9:52 am

G'day, my names Nick I'm from SEQ and am loving my 2007 Single Cab Triton. I haven't done much to it yet as my apprenticeship wages are holding me back :D Here's a picture of when I bought it, went down to Scenic Rim Adventure Park one day after work (as its only just down the road) just after it opened. One of the first cars in there :)

Shortly after this I bought some second hand mud tires for $60ea off old mining cars on hilux rims (I know that's cheap scape but I had pretty much no money :S)

I should mention that I had my inlet manifold cleaned as well. I haven't put in an EGR Block mainly because I haven't got that good mechanical knowledge and because I heard about the check engine light issue. Although now that I have a bit better understanding I am very keen to get it in there. Anyways that was about 4 months ago and now the truck has a bit more gear on it. UHF, Kenwood door speakers, and 4x 100watt spotties on the head board (scored them for $20 a pair 8) )

I have a few mates that have four wheel drives as well and we started up our own little club "Grubby Trucks 4x4" just for a laugh but we usually go out 2-3 times a month. Normally hitting up Duck Creek Road (20mins outside of Beaudesert) and the Logan Village Pine Forest ( Not so much the harder stuff near the power lines because our cars aren't really built for that yet 8) ).

Anyway, been reading a lot of reviews and other bits and pieces, I'll be aiming to get Ultimate Suspension when I can afford it, and 265/75/16 tyres are on the cards too. I'd like to get to know some of the members on here, and get along to some of the day trips as well :)

Thanks CB Dave. Yeah believe me I know about the inspiration! A lot of my mates are sick of hearing about my plans. "Just do it already!"

I also got Prestige Offroad bash plates as well :)

Thanks Des. Does anyone know what the offset is to fit 265/75s stock? Also, do you reckon I should go with a canopy on the back similar to this...

This would solve the storage issue that I have with the triton. Or do you think I should do a custom tray with a massive tool box?

Try this thread for the offset question: http://www.newtriton.net/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=8337

I can't say I've ever been a fan of a canopy on top of a tray, it always looks a bit half-arsed. I guess it depends how much your tool boxes or a gull wing canopy or similar might set you back. Not cheap as I understand it.

I would be going second hand if I had to get a canopy. They definitely aren't cheap

Our numbers grow!! Good to see the build up and coming mate, I know how it feels to be on crap wages trying to build up your pride and joy but stick at it, all will fall into place soon.

So over the last few weeks its been decided that a Cape trip is in order for next year. I nearly have enough for the lift kit and after that it will be a snorkel, custom tray with canvas sides and bigger tyres. Then save like mad to pay for all the food, fuel and other bits and pieces on the way up and back.

On another note a lot of my other mates have recently put musical horns on their rigs, so for something different I have gone with a 12v PA with sirens and megaphone. Just for fun :)

Just shortened the tray up. Now I won't be hitting anything on the departure. Use to have to bend my lights back into place after every four wheel drive Click to view larger picture

Ultimate Suspension. $1590 shipped to QLD. Couldn't argue with the support they have on this forum!
