Hey Sej just wondering what material is on the roof / front (material and thickness) and how you attached it? Whats it like heat wise with the metal roof compared to canvas? Thinking of doing something similar

It's 0.9mm gal sheet, sika flexed and riveted. I used countersunk and sealed rivets.

It was quite cool inside but I think the hottest day we had was about 24ºc and with the swags on the roof the sun doesn't get to it.

With the vents open and while moving, my guess is it will stay close to ambient temperature.

Very neat mate.

I'm wanting to make a similar frame - the fact that I have have over lip tub liner complicates attaching it - wondering how you got around that?

Easily the best storage solution for an MN and the only one that looks neat as well. Recently bumped into an MN owner with a similar setup and he had it made on the advice given by his dealer, ie hardshell canopies are crap. Was one of those horse folk and he swore by it. Much better with dust and easy access to saddles and the like. I'd have just sold the horses to a glue factory and not bothered with it but there you go.

Nice work SEJ!

I was thinking you could always buy a seconhand tub and put it upside down on top of your own tub  Cheap way to get an oem look.

When I first got the Triton, I went to fit the tub liner and all the 'nuts' fell down inside the tub when I undid the sports bar. So, I made up some flat bars that fit up under the lip of the tub. They're 25mm x 10mm drilled and tapped for the sports bar, tie down points and now the canopy frame.

The front and top of the side panels are in rope track, as is the top on the rear section. The guy made it in 3 parts, (I'm not sure why), so the rear section and the back of the sides are just press studs. I hope that makes sense, it confuses me and I know how it is

Ok ta mate. Your liner must be different to mine, I'll have to go about it another way as mine sits about 10mm off the inside lip of the tub.

Nope, I'm sending them a horse each for Christmas. They talk a brave talk but once you've got kids you've got buckley's of sending a horse to the knackers.

PS - like the build mate, very tidy. 8-)

I couldn't do it to him mate, he already has a Land Rover to support, which would be even more expensive than a bloody horse.

Quick question about the wheels that have been dipped, are they 16 inch and how long do you have to leave them to be dipped? I couldn't be more than a day without my truck as it is my daily drive....

Hey Liz, they're the stock GLXR 17" wheels. I bought a second set, had them sand blasted, powder coated and new tyres fitted so I wasn't without the car. (It's Mrs SEJ's daily driver)

From memory, they had the wheels for a couple of days.
