What are you using for the detailing work?

Just gave my black triton a wash and they look awesome, until you get it on the wrong angle and see the whole thing covered in swirls (although today I noticed they weren't swirls, they were straight, as I'm not washing in circles).

I'm using Mcguires products. it's a fiddly process. I just wash and chamois the car, then either machine or hand polish using colour restorer- cleans polishes and waxes in one. the plastics (snorkel, rear step, spotties, side mirror trim etc) get done with plastic bumper and dash restorer and at the end I just go over the lot with a microfiber cloth. wheels and roll bar gets done with chrome and alloy polish. Windows and interior done with SCA wipes. Then I sit back and watch a fine layer of dust develop over the next 5 mins

Yeah, I'll second that. I use their car wash (yellow one, can't remember what it's called) on my black triton and it's great. Just a wash with that and a chamois and it comes up a treat. Well worth the extra money especially for black ones.

I third the motion for maguires and the yellow gunk they call ultimate car wash and wax. It smells quite pleasant too!

For anyone trying to find this washing gear online you might do better with this spelling: Meguiars

Black cars or darker cars- Auto glym super resin polish, its the business, or meguiars paint restorer if the paints real bad/faded. Buy a proper orbital kit and go nuts haha. When washing dark cars always wash and dry in one direction, avoid scrubbing the bugs to prevent swirls  lol.

Love the rig Doc, tough as :D

Roll cage arrived today. Hopefully all bits and pieces are there. Will clean it up before install. Not sure when I'll get time to put it in. And not sure how simple or hard it will be. Instructions would be grand. Alas, it's just a bigger version of leggo.

Wow didn't know BTB made roll bars. How much did the kit cost? Did you buy it new?
Lets get down and dirty.

Cheers mate, I'll have a look at it first. Might be really simple to save you the hassle. If I get stuck, I might take you up on the offer. Appreciate it.

I bought it 2nd hand out of an ex miner. Not sure on exact price new, but was in the range of a few thousand. Interestingly, I went online to see if I could possible get a few pics or install instructions, and the BTB website has disappeared. I was only on it last week. Google couldn't find it either. The only close website was BTBtrays.com and the link wouldnt work. Not sure if they have closed up or what.

Sofled, angel eyes are from prestige offroad. mine weren't sealed properly. Filled with mud 30 mins after install. light output is worse than stock. but I don't mind that as around town is lit up, and out of town I have the spotties and light bar on. they look awesome.

3M, cheers for that.

Geez Doc what are you doing in your beast ?
Having said that we went wheeling at Glasshouse yesterday & we did roll one of the vehicles (not the Triton a toyota surf DOH )so I guess would have been very handy then.
Look forward to seeing the finished install :)

I call it preparing for the inevitable. but in all seriousness, some of the tracks around here are pretty full on. They aren't massive mountains or the likes, but rather 100m of near on vertical inclines with loose rock and undulating terrain. Should a roll over occur, you basically have nothing stopping you until you hit the ground. No trees etc. Just roll till you splat basically

Removed a secondary leaf and decambered the remaining secondary. Lots of images and can't be bothered with a write up, but massive thanks to macca for the help.

End result was the ability to tuck a wheel. My previous set up was for load carrying. No longer carry a load so rode a bit stiff. Also meant getting a wheel to tuck was a bit hard. Really happy with the result. Only lost a few mm in height which im not phased about. Only real issue was I had to remove the bracket off the main secondary leaf that houses the handbrake cable. The cable now just floats freely.... not even really sure that bracket had a use.
