my triton

Hi,

i am new to this forum and was looking at your great cars in OZ. i also do Offroad driving in OZ, in WA but with a Patrol which i have parked in Perth.

Now i have build a Triton in Thailand. But build as a real offroader, so not only looks, I used a Landcruiser vx80 as a base. The car still drives perfect and very silent, it has the exact speedo indication as stock since its all geared down. Wheels are not too big just 40". Front and rear lockers, dual shocks, dual battery and many many more.

nice truck
you should be able to click "img" in the photobucket page, this copies the link and inserts it into the post correctly.

you have got it pretty well sorted out- just that you have .html at the end

Seeing as we have an election at the moment, can we legalise this? I mean come on, somebody must be mad enough to endorse this.
Love it by the way mate. Looks tough as nails :D

the best thing is that the car just drives like anyother triton. I might even be faster since it has a turbo upgrade and some other nice things done. And on the highway and in corners its great also, because it put coil spring airbags in the front to make it stiffer when driving on tarmac.

i think it looks nicer and drives nicer then a vx 80, Triton beats Landcruiser 8-)

In OZ you can easely make this car, all my parts come from Australia. And it would be great for in the outback.

The fuel consumption is great, i dont however drive over 120kph. I drive as per road speed limits indicated.

offroad i might go down to 14l per 100km by driving in low gear and high engine loads. but on the road its closer to 10l per 100km then 11l

econokit cools down your inlet airtemp by letting the engine suck in water vapor. They might claim it does more than that, but as how i see it, its just simple water vapor. and it works great and makes the engine produce less black smoke (but the tritons almost never do that anyway). the main thing is it lowers fuel consumption, thats if you dont use your extra power created by the cooler air. And its better for the environment (it reduces CO2,NOX, CO so they say).

So i could take out without bad feelings the Catalitic converter, EGR and put an open 3" exhaust, bigger turbo and boost up the fuel pressure

you are right wdek4041, no need for rock sliders, since they are at 80cm height. but i put them on as site steps to get in the car, because without them i simply cant get in. and for the missus i still have to put an extra step :)
The snorkel is only for the looks, since the height of the intake is at 230/240cm.

People might thing high cars rollover easy, but the car is quite stable against rollover because i put huge weight above the rear axle and bottom centre. and the track width is increased from 150cm (stock) to 200cm.

brodie, to answer your question, i safe arround 15% on fuel with the water kit.

quick question mate,
Where/how did you organise the red grill? Is it an after market bit of kit or has it been plasti-dipped?
