Ahoy hoy!

So I've been lurking and attending meets in the ACT region for the last 3 months since I traded in my soft X-Trail for my gun metal grey ML GLXR with factory rear locker and 197,000 on the clock, here's to hoping it lasts the same for me.

I started with a car that had big spotties and not much more, I've since added:
    245/75/16 Falken WildPeak AT tyres
DigOptions reversing camera set up with 7" Screen (screen is mounted on top of arm rest in centre console behind handbrake)
    Bushskinz Bash Plates (4mm Steel)
iPod 30 pin cable from back of head unit into glovebox
    Chain tie-down link-ups
SprintBooster ECU Override (Awaiting Delivery and installation)
Wishlist:
    Weight bearing Canopy (Any suggestions?)
    2 inch lift. (Dobinson/Bilstein/Ultimate?)
    Rock Sliders
Play wheels and tyres (at least 265/75/16 tyres)
    3 inch exhaust
    Diesel Chip
    Full tray slide

Nice start. Make it yours. ;)

GO LIKE THE WIND BULLSEYE!

So this morning, I fitted my Sprint Booster into the beast and boy-oh-boy, what a difference! My father had a play with it and he had to agree he noticed the huge difference! This is from a man who drives his 3 series Beamer everywhere.

HOW TO FIT SPRINT BOOSTER TO ML TRITON:

Firstly, let me say that this is a very easy job especially when you know what you're doing.

1. Unscrew the black "modesty" panel underneath the steering wheel and above the pedals.

2. Unbolt the throttle from the firewall. There is a nut at the bottom and one at the top. 12mm socket wrench and nimble fingers for this one.

3. Unplug the OEM throttle response cable. It is somewhat disguised in black but it's on the right hand side. I found that unhooking the pedal assembly from the firewall and turning it on its side allowed best access and easiest removal.

4. Plug in your sprint booster and thread the controller to where you see fit

5. Reassemble and enjoy!

For a weight bearing canopy have a look at the ARB one. they can fit a extra frame on the inside of the canopy to take the weight, i think it's rated for over 200kg
i understand flexiglass do something similar

EGR also do an internal rack. Both ARB and EGR are now an ABS plastic canopy (not fibreglass). not sure of the EGR rating but it would be close.

i do know the ARB has NO carrying capacity without the internal racks but the EGR has some (maybe 80kg's :? ) without the racks as it starts with a thicker plastic base material.

with racks they are probably about the same.

for what it is worth one BIG specification item for us is that most canopy manufacturers have now gone to a 'drop down' front window. This is typically so ute owners can access this area for washing only as they have a fixed rear cab window. HOWEVER, the Triton (GLX-R) has the power window so we went away from the ARB canopy purely on this point because you could not drive around with it open (well you could but it then lays onto your goods or in our case dog space). EGR still retains a slider for the triton.

i might also pop this post into the canopy thread.
This car is like a bad drug habit. It is taking all my money and time, my family are concerned, but new mods just feel sooooooo good.

Geez mate, you've been busy. Does that little screen move forward or anything or do you have to twist around to get the camera view?

I'm slightly OCD. What can I say?

And no that screen just sits there but I figure I'm already turning around to look out the back window so why not just look down through a portal out the back?

MJ's Tourer - Now with canopy and rocksliders

This was yesterday's adventure through some unmarked tracks in the brindabellas. We just found turn offs along the tracks we knew to discover more interesting and new places...

We found this nasty slope along the way, so glad we didn't have to attempt to go back up it. There was no chance of us doing so without a winch.

Last weekend we went on an adventure too... Images courtesy of Amaroo.

It didn't go quite so well...

What if you moved it up an inch or so by hanging it off the horizontal bit above the number plate (near the number plate lights)? Possibly still won't work but that's where my little one is and it seems to look over the top of the ARB bar okay from up there.

I might have to move the number plate down and then slot it in above. It is rather large however.

Had an absolute shocker today. The tracks in the previous comments were tackled again because we enjoyed them so much... Bad move. Despite taking the same line and set up down a very steep section it very nearly ended in spilt fluids and shattered glass from a rolled Triton carcass.

Wide shot:

Rear Shot:

Scary Shot:

Recovery Shot:

The recovery consisted of my friend's jackaroo snatching me back up hill enough to land in the ruts and slide down on my belly. Poor old Bullseye took a bit of a hiding today.

I was genuinely terrified I was going to roll but luck, patience and quick thinking were victors in this scenario.

Lesson learnt hey, stay in the ruts on slippery descents ;)

Glad there was no carnage.

You need a lift and or 33's, then you won't drag the underside while in the ruts 8-)

Lift kit is booked in for the 18th of July with Ultimate after the XROX goes in on the 30th of June. I may have to seriously consider going up to 32s at least! Just don't have another lazy 1k lying around :/

Cool, should be a big improvement once that gear is fitted.

You getting the Xrox locally? If so what sort of $$. PM me if you don't want to publicize it.

$1100 Supply and $400 fitting. Not great but sometimes loyalty to a business pays off in the long run.

$1100 is good, I priced one up locally and it was significantly more than that. Is that through Richie out at Hume?

It'll look tough with the lift and the final piece of bar work installed.

Yeah its through them! Hopefully it arrives before the fitting date. There were some issues with the supply apparently.

I can't wait to see what it all looks like :D

So, Bullseye got a face lift today from the boys at Hume Offroad in Canberra, $1800 Supplied and fitted by the time they did all the removal of the nudge bar, fog lights and rewired the spotties.
